I have Echinacea 'Coconut Lime' which is very similar to 'Meringue' in flower, just a bit taller. I have it planted with Echinacea 'Fatal Attraction' and Agapanthus 'Headbourne Hybrids.' The white and lime-green of 'Coconut Lime' looks outstanding with the deep magenta of 'Fatal Attraction.' It's a great combination, and it's a nice variety of flower heads. And the deep blue color of the Agapanthus is really nice with it. I'll see if I can get a picture posted in the next couple of days.

Hey, Kevin, I was inclined to let my agapanthus go as have not had any bloom for the last two years. Since my sister took two tropical hibiscus to TX with her I had room to bring them in and try one more year. The hibiscus get too buggy for me. I have moved the agapanthus to more sun, watered more often, fertilized, etc. but no bloom. I read seveal threads for info but thought that you being a neighbor ( I live in Maple Grove.) your advice would be more related to my growing conditions. Decided not to dig up my glads this fall. May buy new ones next year or replace them with something else. Crocosmias look lovely but I don't want more bulbs to overwinter inside. I have three amarylis bulbs, one several years old. They are so easy to just stick in any open spot in the garden until I bring them in in the fall. One year I forgot about my older amarylis bulb and didn't find & pot it up until the next year. No bloom that year but it grew all summer and bloomed the next winter. I've had repotting the bulbs on my to do list for a couple of weeks...maybe tomorrow. I love my "tree" bouganvillia and also saved a varigated one but let the others go. Dahlias, cannas, calla lily bulbs, gardenia (got a blossom today, so fragrant), star jasmine, a soft pink fuschia (now full of buds), fig tree, huge jade plant, rosemary, red cyclamin (full bloom), purple dracenia, a clover from CA, and Santa Barbarba daisy (tiny flowes) from CA plus a few other plants winter in my basement or in my cool living room. A small yellow Japanese maple tree, (growing from seedling from my CA sister-in-law's tree), Cecil Brunner rose (a cutting from same sister-in-law), money plant, and a pink mini-rose are spending the winter in my unheated garage. Also have a huge pot with a dwarf arborvite and daffodil and tulip bulbs in the garage. Had success with bulbs surviving last winter in the garage and blooming this spring. All those plants and more, maybe I need to do some more culling next year though I will probably ADD more as today I received some "exotic Japanese Maple" seeds in the mail. Bobbie

Tina, as a WS who grew tons of various hardy geraniums and have gazillions of reseeders some of them germinate in couple of days/ rare/ but most will take up to several months. If you do not see any growth by the end of May, check out your seeds, if they still hard and plump, they might germinate well into fall. I got some geraniums from trades and Plant World seeds last fall and WS them. Some did germinated during last few days of short warm spell here. I just got another order of hardy geraniums from Plant World seeds- man, those listings are hard- have to have all of them... LOL I soaked seeds overnight and just placed them outside. I expect germination by the end of this spring on most of them. Ellen

OMG Marie - I don't want to be a downer, but did you read the negative feedback at Garden Watchdog? The most protracted rant came from a lady who did exactly what you are proposing and sounded like she wanted to go back in time and dope slap that very idea out of her own head by the end of her ordeal. That being said, I HAVE done a group order of Helebores on a smaller scale from SG and it was OK. There were only three of us - Dee, another swapper friend and I. The plants were nice enough, but small as should be expected. Nothing that has inspired me to order from him again, but I wouldn't totally rule it out. I get their emails and laugh at their pricing because whether it is something exotic-ish or as common as Garlic chives he seems to charge the same two pricing structures for everything and presents it with the same huckster patter. Of course he also has some good growing information to impart also. He must really be a character in person.
