Aus Native Grass alternative to Purple Fountain Grass

matt-empirebay

I have seen Purple fountain grass growing in my area, it looks good and has a nice texture. I am after a grass to soften the look of my driveway which is 30m long and bordered by colourbond fencing.

I generally prefer native plants, what would be the best native alternatives to Purple fountain grass. I am in a coastal location, on sandy soil. I don't think I can afford PFG at $10 a pot * 30m, I see it is sterile, so something native which self seeds might be good.

Thanks,

Matt.
