I am not a pro, so take this for what it is worth. How about oaks interspersed with Cornus kousa? Although I love the native dogwoods, we have lost five to anthracnose in the last couple of years. I do have two Appalchian Spring that are still alive (well, we'll see if they leaf out this year!). I cannot picture a driveway lined with all evergreens (except for examples from France and Italy, but not the same look at all here), but if you do want some, they could also be alternated with the oaks and dogwoods for a natural, wide border along the drive. I would lean toward hollies in that case. Of course, this is more than your architect suggested. I agree that serviceberries are lovely, but mine has not grown very much since I planted it two years ago and it is still shrub-sized which is probably not what you are looking for along your driveway. Also agree that you want to plant the trees a decent distance away from the driveway. I think it will look lovely lined with trees.

akamainegrower, I have 3 Rutgers here in TN, started with 4, one died. I found them 10+ years ago at a box store, never seen them for sale anywhere else, so got one of each that they had. As you said, there was a lot of hype so I thought try them. I don't remember the varieties off hand, but I do remember they were from the original introductions. They grew well at first, then one contracted a canker that girdled the trunk at the ground line and died outright. Another got canker, I cut it below the infection and it regrew and is the best of the lot now. Of the two others, one is growing okay and the other is showing signs of canker. Native C.f. is subject to a canker both in cultivation and in the wild, but seldom kills the tree. I don't know if it is the same as the C.x r. got. I have a couple C. k. (out of ca. 25) that have a canker in the crown rather than the trunk, doesn't seem too serious though. C.f. of course is native and extensively used in the landscape, and C. k. is becoming much more popular and can be found in box stores. Both perform very well here, with k. being much more disease and adverse condition tolerant. I'm not sure I've ever seen a C. x r. used in any local landscapes. Here C. f. blooms early-mid April, C. x r. blooms late April-early May, and k. blooms mid-late May. There is bloom overlap between C. x r. and C. k. if April has been warm. In my opinion C. f. and C. k. are the far better trees, both in general esthetics and ability to thrive in my conditions. I've got lots of room, so the C. x r. can stay, if space was limited, the would have been replaced long ago. Of course, the same plant does not perform the same at all locations. But I am disappointed that a cross of two species that do so well here do so poorly, at least for me.

In the latter part of the video, he describes how to bury the low-voltage cable: dig a shallow trench, put the cable in it, and cover it up. As noted here, line-voltage wire has to be installed deeper than low-voltage. However, I don't see any reason why you couldn't re-use line-voltage wire as low-voltage by simply adding a transformer to the circuit as shown in the video. Volt has a number of videos on low-voltage landscape lighting. Home Depot sells landscape lighting. If you click the "Low Voltage" button you'll see a lot more of the dark-sky type fixtures you're looking for than if you click the "Line Voltage" button.

You mean you pull through the lean-to patio cover to get beyond to the garage way in back? It looks like you can tighten the 90 a bit after the union there, don't know where the leg going underground leads to (added onto dirt leg later?). I usually don't see the shutoff valves on the outside or what looks like 1/2" flex going in as well, so maybe it can all be redone. But it'll still be right at the edge of the corner, so I'd still do a bollard, probably can help protect a downspout or just the siding anyway if you are backing up on a curve.
