I have apple mint, chocolate mint, kentucky colonel mint and an extra lemon balm seedling that I could send. Just looking for various herbs for exchange. Any scented geraniums by chance?

The nearest thing to ornamental among the mints is probably Eau-de-Cologne mint, and even that is edible if you have somewhat sophisticated (call it weird) taste-buds. It is really bitter (and it really does smell like Eau-de-Cologne). You're taking your life in your hands (pretty much) if you eat Pennyroyal. It used to be called 'edible' but it's definitely NOT recommended for internal use. It can kill you. Corsican Mint is usually considered non-edible - one for sophisticated tastes only. Not all members of the Lamiaceae family, to which mint belongs, are edible.

One of the lovely thing we had in our garden as a child was a mint walk. This was a narrow path lined on each side with various mint varieties. My Dad claimed it was a traditional thing like knot gardens and other herbal fancies, but I do remember the wonderful smell after rain when we kids walked through it. I am thinking of putting one in myself - when I get 8 days a week - the Hobart Botanical Gardens have a scented geranium walk up near their herb garden which is also lovely. So at worst, stick it in with other mints and create a special spot. Cheers Linda

I have lots of plants of these two mints.Do any out there need them? Please let us have a trade, I don´t want to throw them out on the compost.
