I loathe this weed. I had it at my last house but not where I live now, UNTIL I got some free horse manure, and it came loaded with the seed. Apparently seed can go right through a horse (not like cattle) and sprout from their manure. I have Phylllanthus very thick everywhere I put this horse manure top dressing, and, of course, it has spread from those areas outward. I was surprised that horses eat it. Thanks for the tip on gyphosate. Hand pulling is murder, and the plants grip and hold the soil so, even when I shake as best I can, that I lose a lot of soil when I weed.

Haven't tried it personally but am interested in starting. If you have a permanent spot for the plant this site should be helpful: http://www.gardenguides.com/75504-grow-amla.html I'm still looking around for a site that talks about keeping it in a pot because that's what I intend on doing.

Sheehan...that yellow fruit is: Otaheite gooseberry (Phyllanthus acidus). Sucked. Might be okay with lots of sugar added. Coralred...You will only find longkong in the markets, rarely any other variety or plain langsat. Everything else is considered sub par. In fact, longkong was the only thing found growing everywhere we went. John...everything was safe and sound upon my return. The neighbor did a good job keeping things alive for those two weeks. The mayong chid is actually making a comeback even with all the dieback.

Ive got a few 3-4 ft tall plants in Phoenix. Are you coming to the festival of fruit?
