I would also encourage people to join their district group.

See attached link for NSW residents.

We have been members for just on a year and have learnt so much from fantastic guest speakers. Met some great people and shared lots of experiences.

Also, at the time of responding the AGSP Farrer site seems to be broken.

I would also like to highly recommend the SGAP. When we bought our land in a sensitive wildlife area I decided native garden was the way to go, and immediately joined up to SGAP. The members in my local group are so knowledgable, kind and helpful and I have learnt so much and made some lovely friends into the bargain. They have outings and bush walks and plant identification walks as well as wonderful speakers on a wide range of interesting subjects.Tina

I sent in my registration Monday, and I know quite a few people who plan to go. I think there is a limit of about 150 or even less, so don't wait too long to register. I have been wanting to see those lilies for years! I did not sign up for the BBQ, however, as I am allergic to so much. Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant around the Rock Hill area? Oh, there will be plant sales outside of the building, and even those who don't register can go and buy plants on Saturday. Members are bringing plants to sell, and I think there will be vendors from nurseries, too.

Thanks for thinking about natives. The Triad group does not, alas, have a regular meeting spot but often meets in Kernersville since most members are from the WS/Gsb area. In the late spring and summer months we usually do hikes and have indoor things when the weather is not so kind. The Triad group has no local dues, but you have to be a member of the state organization...(see first posting). Please join and then come to our hikes and meetings. Contact kathy@ncwildflower.org. She is our fearless leader. We also have two groups at the coast, one in the Raleigh/Durham/Carey area, and one in Asheville, I think. Contact tom@ncwildflower.org for those addresses. I think if you contact the Georgia Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation they can give you that information. They are looking for people to grow them and find new sources of indigenous Georgia trees that can contribute pollen to the breeding program. They do have some, of course, but want more. Most of the previous breeding has been using sources from outside of Georgia for pollen and mother trees. Their next step is to breed indigenous Georgia genes into them to create southern crosses. By the way, Martin said that the chapter annual meeting will be at Berry College this year. He said keep an eye on the website for more details - I think it will be in May. USF Butterfly/Herbs/Natives Plant Fair

Just got back. Probably crossed paths with you Laura. I bought most of my stuff at the USF booth. Got 6 tall Pentas, Jatropha. Bought some Bronze fennel and dill fromthe guy across from the USF place. Got a "quirrels Tail plant and a Verbena from the place that had all the Salvia and Cosmos. Found a Maypops Passionvine another place on the other side. Sure was smaller than in the past. Missed seeing the Greathouse butterfly nursery people, Crowleys and the Croton Cociety people. I got more than I went for and found what I wanted but still would have liked to check out the others that are normally there. On the plus side - there were lots of butterflies around their butterfly garden and that was good to see.
