You can transplant them outside before the last frost. After they are acclimated to outside temperatures, they will tolerate frost and freezing well. The planting date can be hard to determine. I think around April 1st is a good time to plant them outside. Before planting, I would monitor the weather for a week or so to see if the temperatures are fine. If temperatures are in the 50s for highs daily, and lows around 35-40, I would plant them. I would wait if the highs/lows are lower. If you plant them on April 1st, then you want to start the seeds anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks before transplanting, depending on the size of plants you want. That would be around now. Others in your zone may have a better time frame. Better yet, if you give your city and state or general area of the state, others can give an even better estimate since the USDA zones cover a large area with different climates.

Brassicas don't enjoy having their roots disturbed so I usually start mine in a 2" pot. Some years I have been delayed getting them out due to late spring arrival and wish I had gone with a 3" pot, but I usually don't have that much space available. Lettuce will be fine in the cell packs.

Hi all, Yes, I'm surprised there are a few people in this swap who haven't chimed in on the unclaimed seeds. I think I'm going to send them an email Saturday if they don't post, just so they don't miss the opportunity. For some people this has been a seed building swap instead of a seed clean out. LOL! I was very impressed with the selection of seeds everyone turned in. We had some private donations that were very generous. Lots of good loot for a seed clean out. There's still lots for Need 4 Seed. You could sub Ang...plum are usually a bit more meaty in the can..and I think a touch sweeter...but I would drain if using regular canned..and use reserve liquid to adjust thickness as needed.
