Lettuce ID please

We bought a punnett of mixed lettuce, some we know and some we don't.

Does any one know the name of the large dark green ones at either end of the row and the small uneven edged ones.

Wish they would grow this well in Summer when you really need lettuce and salad.

The large one looks very much a green mignonette whilst the frilly ones are probably endive. The brown one is a brown mignonette so maybe my first name is not correct as they should be the same size. So it could be a cos lettuce. Have a look on the Eden seeds site. They might have some pics.

Aphids. It appears that your lettuce may have bolted. Wash off with streams of water. Read the other postings about aphids.

To harvest, take the outer healthy leaves while allowing the small center leaves to grow a bit more. OR you could do the cut-and-come-again game by cutting the entire plant off at two inches, allow it to regrow, and then cut again. With that particular group, I doubt if you'd get more than 2 cuttings. Experiment and learn. That's a lot of what gardening is about.
