Dianella caerulea Cassa Blue - few flowers, no fruit

Hi;

I have several clumps of Dianella caerulea Cassa Blue in my garden. As a foliage plant it is pleasant enough. However, I understood that it would have sprays of purple flowers follwed by large lilac fruits. In three years in my garden they have grown and spread and seem very, very happy. However, only one of them has ever flowered, and it blooms sporadically with just a flower here and there on an otherwise bare stalk. One time it produced one berry. It was a nice looking berry, and if it were covered with them, I can see how people would get excited about this plant.

Anyone have any suggestions? If they were simply failing, I would be looking for the usual suspects (water, light, insects... etc.) However, they are growing so well - they just dont bloom. Might it be a specific nutrient requirement?

Thanks!

Andrew
