I have pumpkin seeds that are queensland blue type - several generations old - you are welcome to some. Ultimately it depends upon what one calls heirloom.

I imagine that it would work fine. Do you have sufficient precipitation in your area? Here, where we have much heat and drought, I plant mine in "hills" which are only groups of three plants. But they are not raised. This helps them not to dry out. George Tahlequah, OK
