After reading a thread about someone being sued for damage to a neighbouring property caused by tree roots, I'm feeling very uneasy. I have a powton tree approximately 3 metres from our house and it was about 4-5 metres from my neighbour but they are building an extension, which will put the tree about 2 metres away. Will it cause damage to structures or does it have a tap like root? I love the tree and would hate to get rid of it. Would keeping the water up to it stop it from spreading too far? Thanks for any help.
