Australian Native Plants

Can anyone identify this plant?

Hi all, I've been reading through the many posts here and this site looks like an awesome resource for a "black-thumb" like me :D

A friend of mine recently moved into a new house and she has a few of these in her backyard garden. She has no idea what they are (or if they are even native) but I'd love to get some more to run down the sides of my driveway - can anyone identify them so I can google some more info?

Hi Pat! It looks like it might be some variety of Faucaria or Stomatium perhaps? The folks on the Cacti & Succulents forum might be able to help you out a little more if you post your question there. I'm sorry I'm not much help. Good luck, damask_rose_5 : )

OK - I think the second one may be a Wheeler's pittosporum, as Jinx so aptly suggests. It's weird, because the leaves on top are all brown and very obviously dead, but there are still green leaves on the "under canopy" (for lack of a better term). I swear, if they died, I may just replace them with yaupons. I know they've gained a reputation for being a bit of a bore, but they're the only thing that consistently looks fabulous - still, even after Snowvid - in my area. Thank you all so much! What you are describing sounds like a different species of Kalanchoe. Hopefully your cute plant will bloom in the next year or so. Then you'll know for sure (or somebody should recognize) what you have if it doesn't the seem to match the suggested ID. If you are in the N hemisphere, blooms should start forming around the end of the year and through the spring if the light is strong enough (assuming it is K. blossfeldiana).

I am pretty sure it is one of the liriopes - not an Australian Native but still very pretty and hardy.

Awesome! I just googled "liriope" and looked through some pictures - I think you're right! Thankyou! Looks like they come from East Asia.

There are a few varieties it seems and all the info I found on them make them sound pretty indestructable :D
