I left this gate there so the pumpkins had something to climb on but I think the relationship has gone further than that.Looks like we eat this one first. There's another similar one one the right.

Meyer Lemons are on the high end of the lemon pH, so if lemons range around 2.6pH, a Meyer will range around 2.65. There is tremendous variability, even within the same type of fruit, depending upon soil, growing conditions and degree of ripeness. So, for example, an underripe Meyer would in all likelihood have a lower pH than a dead-ripe Eureka. Certainly you can add some vinegar, though I'd tend to go with bottled lemon juice in this one. I'm just not comfortable taking any risks with pumpkin, which is also quite variable as to pH and water activity. Carol

You actually have to take into account a bunch of different things. I don't grow pumpkins personally but we had them in the garden when I was a kid and with a good grow we could get about 12 but it required that my family really keep up on the nutrients, watering, things like that. They weren't huge pumpkins or anything but we considered it a nice little harvest! Here's a lot more information than I ever needed to know about pumpkins but you might find it helpful. :)

Um, well No, but refinishing is the plan. Right now when the desk part is down it has my grandmothers childhood bible placed over the spot. ;0) I'm not sure how it would work with the sealer if there was one, but I got a stain off my slate entry with hydrogen peroxide and a nylon scrubbie. It seemed to have been waxed at some point and I did have to apply a little wax, buff to make it look like the rest of the floor. Whatever you do, you may have to approach the entire buffet top and not just the marks.

Thanks Spatzbear, yes they are Butternuts and Queensland Blues (or is that Queenslands blue).The Q.Bs had not all finished ripening hence the different colours.Thick creamy pumpkin soup with lots of parsley and garlic chives. Roasted pumpkin, mashed pumpkin and potato, and as a major ingredient in an Indian curry.A properly ripened Queensland blue is one of the most underated vegetables available. Peter

Hmm... I must admit I've never had a Queensland Blue that made me say, "Wow"! But after your review I might have to throw some seeds into the patch next year. :)
