Though you do not indicate your Hardiness Zone or in which part of the country you live, I believe it's time to plant your tomatoes and peppers in the garden, stop debudding them and let them do their thing. Most varieties of peppers grow to more than 2 feet and tomatoes can grow to over 6 feet, depending on what type they are and the length of your growing season. I planted mine Victoria Day weekend which is our last frost date in Zone 5, and some of the tomato and pepper plants I purchased already have flowers and are only about 8 inches high.

I am currently growing sweet aperitif tomatoes. Thompson & morgan says it is the sweetest tomatoes around and I did my own research, it is definitely the sweetest, but when I read on the internet, it seems not many people is growing it. We have only one season in Malaysia which is hot, hot and hot. Well there is two seasons here, rainy season and dry season. But rainy and dry season temperature is almost the same, Just example if today is cloudy and raining, temperature will be cooler by around 5 celcius, but as soon as the next day you will be back to square one that is hot unless it rains again. I grew my tomatoes on 29 May 2014 and it took only 3 days to germinate and packet says 7 days. It says germination temperature is 15-21 celcius more a less, but the afternoon temperature was around 37-39 celcius at the peak and around 28 celcius at the coolest and still germinate than less than half the time, sometimes people give lots of advise, I always believe this, never try never know and too many good cooks spoils the dish. My tomato plants is now 1 month and 1 week old and it already has flower buds. One packet seed has 10 seeds in it, some say it is a hybrid some says heirloom, whatever it is, if I do have extra seeds in the future, would you be interested in having some? If I do send postage is on me :-)

I've never heard of anyone doing this, never seen anyone do this and I've been gardening since I was a wee child in the 1960s. It simply isn't necessary. The flower falls off on its own at the right time, and I suspect the plants do not appreciate human intervention. I don't know if there are any negative side effects from you removing the flowers too soon, but suspect that it might interfere a tiny bit in proper fruit development since the tomato plants function perfectly fine if we just leave them alone. I've never heard of deformed fruit resulting from flowers staying on the plants too long. You get deformed fruit because of certain weather conditions that are occurring when pollination/fertilization of the flowers is occurring. Once the weather straightens out, the deformed fruit will stop. The most common kind of tomato fruit deformity is called catfacing and it generally occurs because the fruit set at colder temperatures than they like. Sometimes, in very warm weather, catfacing can occur due to pollen issues caused by high temperatures at or above 92 degrees occurring while pollination is ocurring, but I rarely see that sort of heat-induced catfacing. I do see the cold weather-induced catfacing on early tomatoes. It also can happen during times of high humidity when the high RH values make the tomato pollen sticky so that it clumps together and does not move around well inside the flower, which is where pollination and fertilization occur. It is what is is, and it stops when the temperatures stabilize. Catfacing is addressed in this factsheet from OSU (though I don't really like that they list is as a noninfectious disease---to me it is more of a physiological issue than a disease). Tomato Fact Sheet From OSU I'd leave the flowers alone and let them fall off the plants on their own simply because what you're doing is not helping the fruit and might be hurting them.

Thanks Dave. I've been doing it over the past few days and haven't noticed any negatives yet. Then again, I've had so many tomatoes popping up over the past few days that it's impossible to remember which ones I assisted and which ones I left alone. They all appear to be doing great though.
