HAVE: Quisqualis Indica (Rangoon Creeper)

I have countless seeds, and a few young seedlings to give away. Apparently this plant is very difficult to source nowdays, so if you live in Brisbane, and have been looking for this beautiful climber, you are in luck!

You are more than welcome to as many seeds as you want. Trade? I haven't really thought about it at all, though I am partial to orchids and bromeliads, but I wouldn't expect anything of much value, as all i'm offering is a few seeds! I'm unsure if my vines are single or double. I can email you some photos of them flowering.

Thanks all. I cant wait to meet up with you guys during our fall get together. I have poicinia seeds, henna and few others that i collected on my trip. Easy, Back home it looks like it is blooming all the time :-). This plant is maybe 4-5 years old. Since the weather is tropical there is really no big shifts in temps. jimdaz, Crepe Jasmine, i have pictures of those as well which i will post here real soon. I have been wanting to get one of those as well. Pagancat, I ordered the tuberose bulbs from the place you suggested and one of them has three spike and is ready to bloom any one of these days. i am so excited. Thanks for the information.

I found this on the net the other day and I am passing it on b/c I wondered the same thing about the thorns: 'The thorns on a Quisqualis are formed when a leaf drops but the petiole remains. In a little time this petiole stiffens, grows stronger, and becomes a very effective climbing hook. While not sharp, like a cactus thorn, these can make pruning a bit tedious, and can draw blood on impatient gardeners." Mine is, however, confined to a pot and not allowed out to play, :)

That's odd. My double rangoon creeper has an awesome scent plus great bloomer. I am in a 9a and it roots itself into the ground from the pots every year and makes new plants the next spring from the ground under where the pots were. We hit 19 the other night for the first time in years and one of the escapee rangoons is still alive from where I had a pot last year lol. They are great vines, I don't mind them being a little invasive. Maybe if all of our 4 acres filled up with them then ya I could see that would be annoying haha.

I have been trying to source this plant for several years having tried unsuccessfully on several occasions to propagate it. I will be in Brisbane next weekend (9-11 April). Do you still have seedlings left? I would love to have some. Hopefully this time I will raise a mature plant.
