Have you checked out the many exchanges forums here? Dave

Must plead guilty to never taking any photos. Got frustrated a few years ago when driving around England doing the touristy thing and looking for orchids here and there and of course finding none. There are probably many orchids in other parts of the world described as a leafless saprophytes which cannot be cultivated

Follow the link below to download a free program for selecting native plants developed by a guy in SA. The website is in frames so I couldn't link to the exact page but look for the link to the Native Plant Selector. http://users.tpg.com.au/hjharvey/ A quick description: APSquery uses a database created and maintained by the Australian Plants Society (S.A. Region, Inc), which contains descriptions of approximately 6000 native plants. Most are proper species, but the list also includes a number of common hybrids and cultivars. Here is a link that might be useful: Native Plant Selector

I've only just returned to this forum, robfearon, so there's a long delay between your post & my response. Sorry, but I hope you get this. You might want to try two books, both by the Australian Plant Study Group: Grow What Small Plant & Grow What Where. The first of these books contains lots of information about plants for courtyards, rockeries & garden beds so I guess pots would fit in there somewhere. The second of the books has a section on plants suitable for container plants & hanging baskets. One type of Australian plant which is often overlooked for small gardens & pots is creepers. There's a variety of these including Hardenbergia violacea Native Lilac. Other plants you might want to seek out for your pots are Epacris impressa Common Heath, Tetratheca pilosa Pink-eyed Susan, Dianella caerulea Poroo Lily or Flax Lily, Grevillea chrysophaea Golden Grevillea & Grevillea dimorpha Flame Grevillea. Hunting for these in native nurseries & on line can be fun if you're that way inclined. I hope you get this information.
