Roses From New Farm Park

I took these last month when we went to New Farm Park for the day.

Of course it rained while we were there so many of the photos were taken with me holding a brolly in one hand.

And the camera on a monopod in the other hand while the rain tumbled down.

Thank you for the lovely photos.
Your "stitching" is very neat.
The Paradise rose I have seen in Toronto, has a more blueish tinge to the outer petals and so does the Burgundy iceberg.
As always, fab photos. Even for a rainy day.

Thanks Hazel for that tip. I have now made a booking at the New Farm Deli for 1pm so please lets have some hands up of who is coming for numbers and feedback and if this is ok with everyone instead of in the Park which we can walk to easily after lunch. If you don't want lunch you could have a coffee and cake-Yum. If it is crowded at New Farm Park it would be nice to be at our own table at this great Deli. Cheers, Brissy

Poor Rose from White Flower Farm

I recently got 4 roses from White Flower, Princesse Charlene de Monaco, Above & Beyond, Sweet Fragrance and Rose At Last. The first 3 arrived - Rose At Last is on its way. My Charlene has 3 canes and looks much like Anne's. I think this may just be a spindly specimen. Above & Beyond and Sweet Fragrance look really good - see photos. Don't know what the last rose will look like, but mine are all healthy and have just potted them and I expect them to grow well. I think that probably all the Charlene roses will look like this. I'll bet that if you pot it up and baby it a bit, it will grow just fine. Mine will stay in a fairly large pot this year - hopefully it will survive and be able to be planted in the ground next fall. This is a really pretty rose, no one else carries it so I am happy to have it and will be optimistic it will do well. I did order a daylily at the same time as the roses, and it wasn't much to look at. I get far better specimens on the Daylily Auction but it was one I wanted that few daylily nurseries carry. However, its planted and doing well so eventually, it should do fine. Though Charlene is small, she is healthy and I was very pleased with my other 2 roses. Hope your Charlene will grow and do well for you!

Lemon Snap sure looks nice! Love the reddish coloring on the stems. You referred to a bathtub wall... I am dying to see a wide shot of this wall! I have an idea of what it may look like, but if you have a photo from last year when the plants were all growing strong, I would really like to see a pic of the tub wall!

Susan, I just read an article about southern Oregon and the cartels Pot growers used to be locals who cared about the water and environment. Then we had to Mexican cartels and the danger level soared. Now, we have Chinese and Baltic country cartels taking over. Basically using slave labor and threatening anyone who tries to leave and following through, these are not nice people. They are everywhere, taking over land and water and these are ruthless greedy cartels Why does it continue? Not nearly enough agents to clear them out and it is like playing Whac a mole. There seems to be no end in sight to the illegal drug trade and trust me, pot is only one of many drugs travelling in to our valley. If I was younger I would move somewhere else but at this age starting all over sounds top daunting.

Thanks Inga Yes it was not the best of days for taking photos that for sure, strange that the colours are different where you are.
I have seen Burgundy Iceberg looking more a red too I wonder why.

It is a lovely colour Tricia I have more photos of yellow and orange roses they are so pretty also.

Well done Misty. the panorama looks great.I have done a few
but fine tuning is needed when i do some more. I like Paradise
and the other shots are great. My roses are well into the second flush and we're picking some nice bunches. I have found if i take the middle rose out when in nearly full bloom,
the others left are growing much longer stems and make a
better picked show.
A busy time ahead so a safe and happy festive season to all.

Its good to read that you are having luck with your roses, not here we have had terrible weather this past week.
So much rain and the hailstones have been as large as golf balls and they have smashed so many of our plants.
I did managed to take quite a few photos that morning of the Petunia and the Frangipani before the hail come
Yes its certainly a busy time this Festive Season and you have a wonderful Christmas also.
