Mice ate 3 rose bushes! What to do now?
Comments (17)Nothing like rodent patrol. For gophers, just go to Walmart, HD, Lowes, etc, and look for gopher bombs or gopher gassers. They are cheap, but I don't know how effective they are, since badgers take care of our gophers around here, and voles and mice are our worst problems. For mice, d-con is very effective; it's in a yellow box and available everywhere. For voles, we have used a stronger version of d-con which comes in a white plastic bucket. These products are in granule form. Just pour a small amount down the vole hole, and prepare for vole bodies (ick). For mice, follow the directions for placing the little yellow boxes of d-con. This stuff is granular, too, and can be poured into the holes also. I just noticed the voles are back and making a mess of our lawn in one spot. Time for the rodent wars. Keep pets away from the vole holes if you are using these products. Diane...See MoreSomething interesting you may enjoy! Grace Rose Farm is selling plants
Comments (15)@bayarea_girl_z10a_ca no she didn’t provide a list or anything. I read through her responses to comments and know that Evelyn is not one. I think she will send a private message with lists and prices. i believe her regulars run around $65 each and these are all 5yo roses cut down hard while dormant. I’m expecting I won’t be ordering any but figured I’d ask anyway....See MoreRouge Royale & coupon now at Grace Rose Farms
Comments (3)Thanks Meghan! I promised myself to only purchase highly fragrant and disease resistant roses, but looking at the photos of Yves Piaget and Rouge Royale, they are so tempting (although questionable disease resistance from what I read). Oh boy, wishing that they sell out soon before I change my mind :)...See MoreGrace Rose Farm vs. Menagerie Farm and Flower
Comments (30)@DDinSB (Z10b Coastal CA) Here is a pic of my Stephen Rulo before he gets the top chopped off. Look down to see the small shoot that's emerging... that's Stephen. The rest is the multiflora understock, which will be cut off right above the shoot Here is Oksana, a budded maiden I received a year ago. Look down at the base, and you'll see an old cut-off stem, which was the understock I cut off. And here is one of the Westminster Pinks I sent budwood to Steve for, and received a year ago. It's pretty easy to see where the understock was cut off. I just trimmed this one a couple of days ago Hope this helps you picture budded maidens! (as always, click on the pics to enlarge)...See MoreMadison Post
