Copyright date helps. I often use that, especially if I am looking on library shelves, or am on the spot in a bookstore. Look at the verso (reverse side) of the title page. Some books will list the titles in the series in order on a page near the front of the book, too. There are also online sites that list series in order. And some authors have websites that give you that information. and on Amazon there is often a Listmania list that tells you what you need to know. Rosefolly

Old Mother West Wind, Grandfather Frog. Boy, did I love those when I was a kid in the 40's and 50's. I pulled out one which was printed in 1915, so my mother enjoyed them as well. None of mine have checkered covers, so they must have been printed for a long time. Goes to show you a good story never goes out of date.

Sorry, I did not give a really good description. This is a small town and the people in the story are well know to the town,but in reality they are angels. It seems like they have a different person to look after in each book. I don't think angels are in the title at all. wd
