The tree ID guides did tend to steer me toward buckeye because of the very unique palmate leaves. I looked up photos for Asian Pear and Buckeye and neither seems to be a match. I pulled a fruit off the branch and sliced it up to show one of the two seeds inside. You can also see the seeds in the previous photo of the fruit rotting on the pavement. The seeds are much too hard to cut through with a knife, and the meat of the fruit is about the hardness of an apple. I had to clean the one visible seed off with my fingernails after using the knife to remove larger chunks around it. Here is a link that might be useful: Imgur gallery of the fruit

I suggest that you just stick with limon frances (with proper accent marks of course). In fact you probably have something that will capture the imagination of the "gotta-have-something-rare" crowd. Give it some time and folks will be clamoring for seeds (you certainly have plenty) or budwood from you. A lemon by any other name would still make excellent salad dressing, but a new named variety with different characteristics will surely fan the "first on the block" fires. So just run with it and enjoy the fervor. :)

Nice looking tree. Like Centurion said, it depends based on the variety. Some varieties only produce figs on the previous year's growth. Some only produce figs later in the season and have trouble ripening them when the tree is still young. But there are lots of varieties that will ripen main crop figs on young plants like yours. The fact that it has been growing strong is a good sign. It also helps that you're in a long season climate. There's a good chance you could get some figs from it this year. Keep your fingers crossed. The figs will first start to show as a small bump above where the leaf attaches to the branch. Usually it takes about 2 to 3 months from when that bump first appears to when there are ripe figs. Good luck. Joe

I don't really care about the citrus, if it kills it oh well. I only actually use a few of the lemons a season anyway. I think I could prune the passion fruit back to keep it under control. In my zone it will die to the ground every winter as well. I am not sure how o root them yet. I have heard that they are easy, but I need to red about it more. For figs that I would be willing to trade I have: LSU Gold, Panachee, Barnisotte, Col De dam, Negronne, and Celeste.
