Thank you for figuring out my mystery! I looked up the hawthorn online and feel lucky to have one! I have a lot of deer mesh so maybe I will protect this one when the weather turns. I was walking through the woods behind my house yesterday and I notice quite a few more hawthorns. They are much larger in the woods. I'm looking forward to seeing it bloom. Their presence makes sense because this land used to be a grazing pasture for cattle. Thanks again!

Hi All, I was hoping to get help in identifying a tree. The tree is approximately 20-25 feet tall and has distinct warty red seedless berries that are approximately (1/2)to (3/4) inch long. I am hoping to determine if they are harmful to pets. Thanks for your help! Image link:

maddilee, oh, that's a good informative diagram there! Yes, learn something new all the time! Thank you for sharing it. cawaps, odd as it is, this is the most developed fruit we've had to date. We have gotten as far as the fruits getting to be almond sized, then the birds come and eat them all. Miraculous we got this one so developed. It's exciting, even though it got cut down by accident. Dh is still upset he didn't see it before he lopped off the branch. I've shared with him what you've all said, and he's extra excited to know this is indeed a walnut tree. He's hoping we get more in the years to come, with a few lasting long enough to be ready for him to eat!
