Silverbeet problem

Hi All,

I am growing some Rainbow chard this year for the first time. With Autumn they seem to have developed a salty/waxy looking covering on all leaves. It dosen't look like any fungus I know and the plants still look healthy enough.

As I planted them in early spring, is it because they are old and they need to be resown? Also quite a few green vege bugs have decided to move in on them as i've pulled most of my tomatoes, could this be GVB damage?

I will be making saag paneer tonight so most will go into the pot before they get much worse.

Cheers

Karl
