Rats! I was going to tell you how many days but I've forgotten the password to my journal software. I think I'm having one of *those* moments. :(

Um, how do I save the seeds?

Looks great Amanda. Was it sweet and luscious? No, don't tell me, I don't want to know.
Saving seed - clean them thoroughly removing all traces of flesh and any sugary residue (rub between fingers in water), let them dry to the point where they snap when you bend them, then store in a nice dry place till next spring.

I think the American expression is WAY TO GO!!. That is a beautiful colour. A champagne melon ??.

Very strange but there might be something to a rename thing. Trophytaker series has Jen Melon as Jen Melon. Oakes does not list their own Jen Melon but list Star Struck and is listed as Star Struck in the All American series. Why market one with one name in one series and then rename it in another series makes no sense to me, but it becoming to look like Jen Melon and Star Struck are one and the same. Whatever it is, it's a beauty. I have a feeling the Starstruck in my garden is Jen Melon aka Star Struck. One would think the industry could market a daylily under one name especialy if the reason for the name change is 'more marketable name' but then continue to market it under two names. Update: I have a Quartz mountain Live oak that has survived the winters of 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 in the ground. It is a 4 ft at planting time specimen. I did put christmas lights on it both winters. I didn't cover it though. It hasn't grown too much though, because it doesn't often get in the 90'sF here the way they like it. It may get only a foot or so of new growth a year, but, I am just thrilled to have a Live oak in zone 6. The Live oak from Arizona is still alive, but, it was killed down to the soil line several winters, but, I will be covering it next winter so it can get some height to it finally. The Arizona Fusi Live oak is now about 3 feet tall. The Arizona Fusi is multi-trunked, so i hope to get it to 1 trunk also, I'm not sure how to do that really without taking off the wrong trunk, or killing it by trying. Maybe I should go on the tree forum?

Only you can know the answer, as only you know both of them. You could ask yourself what SS would have to gain from 'playing you' and then what would BM have to gain? Based only on what you've said above (and reading all your previous postings) I think it's possible it could be BM. For example, SS knows there is no party. He knows family dinners are what your family does for ALL the children. Another example is her saying that 'he needs attention from Dad'. You know in reality that if Dad is not working Dad is spending time with you and the kids. The one who does not KNOW what is happening in your house and/or how things like parties are done is BM. You know what she claimed to DH is silly, but she does not know that. The knowledge/lack of knowledge might be your key to your answer as to who is 'playing'. SS might be whining about a big wonderful birthday party for your son to his BM in an attempt to play her guilt so she will buy or do something for him. She did not deliver when she had promised him for his birthday, perhaps kid is trying to make her think no one at your house does anything for him but just the other kids 'boo-hoo, BM, feel sorry for me and buy me something'. 'Boo-hoo, BM, Dad does everything with the other kids but not ME'. Maybe he's 'playing' her ! Another thought is could she be trying to put off bringing him home on a drinking day (Sunday) vs a working day for her (I'll assume she works Monday)...in other words, she can't drink all day with her husband and drive SS around drunk or merely having to drive SS around interfers with her plans of wanting to spend the day drinking. Perhaps SS spending staying over an extra day has nothing to do with SS's desires but rather trying to rearrange her weekend to suit her own agenda of selfishly drinking her Sunday away? DH needs to make clear to BM that he will not tolerate her drinking and driving son. If she wants to drink herself to death, that's her problem, but if her drinking is involved at any time during transport of SS it puts SS at danger.

Monica, that floor is gorgeous in her inspiration photo!! The tile showrooms (at least here in the Northeast) are all showing dozens of wood/tile varieties. I'm sure she could find several wide pine options like her Photo. I would do real wood anywhere except a bathroom. I was afraid of the moisture on it. Have her post updates here! Farmhouse coastal is a gorgeous look. I redid my kitchen 3 years ago with New England coastal theme and still love it as much as I did on day 1! Last night, I took my first bath in the new bathroom and love the tub and how deep it is. Haven't tried the handheld yet...

Great stuff Amanda, I was soooo excited when I picked mine.
I've saved seeds just as Ray described. My vine has started growing again so I'm hoping to get another (not too hopeful though!)

I just remembered who it was who reckoned I was too late for melons. Better go put a link in his thread and make sure this gets seen. :)

I've sorted out the password issue too. The seeds were planted on the 2/12/05 so I think that makes it 118 days.

The Chilean Black Seeded watermelon looks ripe too - I'll pick one in a few days - when we've finished eating this one!

Well done Amanda. Hope there's more to come. My Butternuts are really powering at the moment. Didn't think I was going to get many but heaps have set in the last month. There's not much better than a fully ripe homegrown watermelon.

Just a cautionary word Amanda. If you didn't hand pollinate the melons, or grow them a respectable distance apart, the chances of a cross will be very high. I wouldn't let that bother me though. In fact it may lead to something really interesting.

What fun. The colour is so different from the one we had at Christmas; it was a bright pinky/red. It's all in the eating :)

Isolation distances for ensuring pure melon seeds varies from 200m to 900m, depending on which "authority" you read. Commercial seed producers use the longer end. So at 20m, I'd say there's every chance of some crossed seed. But as I said, it might yield something really interesting, though not necessarily next year. It's in the 2nd generation after a cross that all the variability starts to show up.
You can reduce isolation distances considerably by planting lots of other things in between, especially flowers and herbs that flower at the same time as the melons. The pollinators then have a chance to "clean up" before moving on to the other melons.
