Booberry, behind the lettuce is 'Early Purple Sprouting' Broccoli, which has been a bit of a disappointment. The plants are huge, but still no heads on them, and it's July! If I don't see some development soon, I'm going to rip them out and plant some more lettuce or bush beans. When I threatened to rip out the peas, they started flowering the next day, so maybe the broccoli is listening : ) There's also carrots between the onions and lettuce, but the onions are so tall that they don't show up in the picture. On the Echinaceas, all of the ones I have so far are hybrids, Sunrise, Sundown, Summer Sky, and Harvest Moon. If there was one, other than purple or white, that would come true from seed, I would try wintersowing it. I saw a thread on the perennials forum, that showed a photo of a new one coming out called Tomato Soup. As much as I love wintersowing, you guys know that I'll probably "have" to have that red Echinacea. Bonnie

Been spending some time googling torenia lemon drop to see if I could find out any info on this strange bloom with a sort of "pinkish, peachy color" and I think I have an answer for us George. Ok so I don't know about you, but I've been stressed this summer with this crazy weather we had and I had more rain between mid July and MId August than my town has had since the 1920's. So if we assume that too much rain and cool temps, and lack of any decent sun and warmth, is stress, then presto we got the odd color. Only question I have on that is that all the seedlings went into one pot, 2 seedlings are blooming the weird combo color and 2 are blooming a perfect lemon drop bloom. My timing must have improved because I think I got some dust seeds of the blue and white yesterday. checked the drying pods today and looks like I got these 2 just in the knick of time. All the torenia seeds that I've seen on line for sale are pelleted seeds. I don't know about anyone else but I have very poor germination success with pelleted seeds. Even with alyssum and portulacca, germination is horrible. Michelle, I will ask allison where she got the seeds for the torenia blue and white. She got them and it was her 1/3 of the WS that she did them. George I will have seeds for those cosmos and be posting a trade list with them in a couple of weeks. Northerner, the lemon drop seeds came from burpee or swallowtail seeds, not sure which as they where bought and WS by a friend. She sowed them in April, beginning of April with the WS method, but they took forever to germinate. I'll post as soon as I find out where she got the "blue and white" ones. Fran

Chris, Yes that is the FFO on that fan of SANFORD INTERMEZZO, so I think that it will get better and better as bloom continues. VOODOO MAGIC is an awesome flower. I planted 2 individual fans of it here in my garden in early May. Even the FFO was stunning. I can't give you any info regarding increase, but would highly recommend it on just the beauty and size of the flower. Linda

Cindy: When your SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS blooms, do post a pic. I've got that one too from Curt but it is not a star performer here yet. Debra: This many blooms this late has to be due to the amount of rain we got over the past month. I don't recall this much showing at this late date. Mantis: yes, earlier pics of GEECHEE were better but just shows how much a late opening with cool temps can do to a daylily. Celeste: I've admired your pics of COUSIN SUZANNE. The race is definitely on here too! Linda and Kay: I'm so thankful to get these blooms this late in the season. I'm always on the scape hunt because I just never know what will show itself. KIOWA SUNSET has always been a favorite of mine. It is registered as a EE but here, it doesn't start blooming till early July and the scapes are taller than 23" as registered. Well, the weather turned and we are already up at 60 degrees F here this morning. Rain, rain, rain so I guess that is why our temps moderated. Julia
