Grew These From Seeds.

I loved the small flower Dahlia seedlings I planted into very large pots at the bottom of the back steps last year.

This year I decided to have more and planted some seeds. Just over six weeks from seed to flower and worth waiting for.

These are the first two and both in the same pot.

Love the centres Mary Ann. Also love to grow things from seed, much more rewarding.

Thanks Tricia is certainly is, also planted seeds of Marigolds they are easy to grow as I have done that before.
What I can hardly wait for is the three French Lavender plants to get bigger those seeds were very hard to germinate.
The seeds were like dust and I lost so many over the past two months due to the rain and finally the plants were big enough to pot up they are now 6 cms tall..

With all the beautiful canna pix I've seen here (then making the mistake of searching a little) I'm afraid I feel another obsession coming on. You may just have a line waiting as yours multiplies Lucy. Grew thorns from seed of grafted calamondin

Yes, no need to worry at all, John! Some citrus cultivars can be wickedly thorny when young, then become completely thornless. I was really shocked to see what were about 2" long thorns on my Yosemite Gold mandarin of all things. And, this is a grafted (but young) tree. It has a big growth spurt, and on the new branches there were thorns that would make your knees weak, I was really surprised, as it's "cousins", the Shasta Gold and Tahoe Gold mandarins were not sporting these enormous thorns. It's just a young citrus's way to protect itself and its tender new growth from animals wishing a yummy meal. Seedlings will always be more pronounced in their thorniness as you don't see this "mature budwood" phenomena that you do with grafted citrus. Usually. But, not in the case of my Yosemite Gold mandarin, which is definitely grafted! Patty S.

Really lovely colours Misty, I used to grow Dahlias but always
from tubers. Your very good to grow them from seed'

Thanks Chas I am lucky living here as we don't have great extremes in climate temperatures so that helps
Its only when the rain heaves down I tend to lose them.
