Indeed these plants have 6 whorled leaves and almost all of them are found in partly shady areas near rocks. In fact, they are found at the edge of heavily wooded areas near openings open to a meadow. I don't see too many of these plants (and they are sometimes hard to find) is why I'm a little curious about the ID. Also, this specimen in the photo is kinda sickly looking...they usually are more fleshy looking than these. Also, these plants have a small yellow flower at the end much like the ones from the URL provided (www.ncwildflower.org/index.php/plants/details/lysimachia-quadrifolia/). thanks
