I send mine in the smallest bubble envie they will fit into. I haven't had a problem using, one, .58 cent stamp on my BE whether large or small. I don't ever take them to the PO, I put them in my mailbox and my wonderful mail man picks them up for me. No problem as of yet with postage due. I have been trading for years and have never had a problem. I do have a great mailman and I think if any that were mailed to me were postage lite he paid for them!!! Lucky Me!!

Steve had alerted me to their origin since he wanted to make some Fascination x Elegans crosses this year. Unfortunately he did not have any Elegans pollen. A shame really since I could send him pounds between the three of mine. :p In any event, I had a BLAST !!! It was so exhilarating to sit there like a rabid animal, constantly clicking refresh and throwing my âÂÂbudgetâ to the wind. Good work in going right to the source for the import requirements daniss! The requirements I posted earlier were from the Phytosanitary Export Database (PExD), which is maintained by the Export Services division of the US Dept of Agriculture (USDA). Export Services obtains all their information from all the other countries of the world and puts together a summary of each country's import requirements for every genera of plant material. It is a massive undertaking, and sometimes the information is incomplete, misleading, or rarely flat out wrong. Basically the PExD is geared toward commercial exporters, and didn't take into account the nature of very small shipments like you are talking about. After reading the info at the link you provided, you are correct that they would want to do a fungicide treatment upon arrival in Australia. Hopefully they wouldn't charge a lot for that. The only way to get around it would be to get a phytosanitary certificate before shipment, where the certifying official witnessed the treatment here in the U.S., and documented it on the phyto. If I hadn't read the link you provided, I would have told you to list the seeds as Hosta sp. for species. That is standard procedure when dealing with interspecific hybrids that most hosta cultivars are, and is considered acceptable by most countries. However as you saw in Australia's info, it states that you need to list genus AND species. If we are using Hosta 'Clovelly' as an example, the genus is Hosta and the name Clovelly is a cultivar name, with no species name listed. So what is the species is a good question. I looked in Zilis' Hostapedia, and found Clovelly listed as a seedling of H. 'Split Decision'. When I looked up Split Decision, it stated that it was a seedling of H. 'Split Personality'. Split personality is a seedling selection from Mildred Seaver with no further background info available. So what is the proper species to list for H. 'Clovelly'? I don't know. Therefore I would either email the guy in Australia again and ask if they absolutely require the species for a hybrid, or else I would choose one of the list and label it as that, because they would never really be able to prove you wrong, and would probably let the seeds on through. By the way, I would not list the cultivar name 'Clovelly' on any of the documentation. It is only in very rare circumstances that the cultivar name is pertinent, and this is not one of those cases. I hope I haven't confused you even more.
