For MM Burgandy Iceburg.

I can't see much difference MM what I find is in the heat of summer this rose goes much darker but it is also dryer on the petals

Thanks Jan for the Pic maybe another one later as it gets warmer.
Yes the sun does dry out the petals reguardless to how much water goes to the roots.
And those hot drying winds does it as well. Cheers..MM.

Hi Jan,
Very nice pic of your burgandy iceberg rose.
Mine is now out in full bloom and the petals appear to be a bit darker.
I must take a snap now and see what it looks like after I scan it.

Old Blush is self-cleaning. If allowed to naturalize, it can be pruned some, and stay pretty low-growing. And it is always going to have blooms on it. Same thing with White Pearl In Red Dragon's Mouth. When we had that record-setting, damaging freeze last winter, WPIRDM just went right on blooming. DH had never been excited about WPIRDM, until he saw how downright TOUGH it is. It seems to remain compact (tho I admit, it's only been here 3-4 years) and is a neat round BALL of a plant. Iceberg is a GREAT rose, particularly for mass planting. It's so bullet proof in the West that it is used for gas station landscaping. But it is ubiquitous because it is good. You could use Iceberg, alternated with one of the colored Icebergs, such as Brilliant Pink Iceberg. (DISCLAIMER: I don't know if it blackspots.) Jeri

The Western Garden Book has a section of windy plants. It's almost always breezy here and all mine seem to be fine but are in full sun. Some red or pinkish flowering I have: Weeping bottle brush Dwarf bottle brush Calliandra Salvia greggii Cape Mallow Escallonia, pink princess Heuchera purple palace is close to burgandy but depending on when the 4 hrs of sun it might survive. Dwarf crepe mrytle Some Manzanita Barberry Leptospermum tea tree Heavenly bamboo Pyracantha firethorn Geraniums Most I have listed will do better with more sun though.

Judy.Thank you.I didn't know they had a yellow Iceburg.I would love to have a yellow one.I guess Pink would be nice, too.I almost bought a Burgandy Iceburg a couple months ago and I passed it up,went back later to get one and they were sold out of them. mine also look much darker, more like deep burgundy, with a silvery back to the petals...must be the photo

Mine also has a silvery back to the petals and fades with age. It is much more burgundy/wine coloured than yours appears on my screen. It also is not so near as full as yours, being more a semi double. Will get photos when they bloom. I have 5 so i am fairly sure they are correctly named.

Here are some on line photos that look exactly like mine. I can imagine though, that a photo taken early before the flower was fully open, would look like yours.
