My first vase of roses

Hi All

We're just back from a week in Sydney and, wouldn't you know it, my first flush of roses are blooming. They're a bit over-blown but pretty impressive to a novice like me.

From 12:00 o'clock:

Valerie Swane (bud), Princess de Monacco, Betty Boop, French Lace, Hansa Park, Paradise.

And Jessica was my first rose out this year.

We suffer from BS with the rain and cloudy days but the rewards make all the effort worth it!!

Well done Jackie a beautiful vase full. Yes plenty of BS around,
Here 32kms S of Brissie it has rained a little every day for the past week.
Just like a pep pill for the garden, its so wonderful to see green grass again.
All very pretty roses I like the look of your Hansa Park, its nice. Cheers..MM.

I'd love to say the vase was a "creation" but really it was simply a matter of trying to get one of each of my Dahlias that are well into blooming into the vase at the same time so you could see them...;-] Remember, I'm the engineer, not an artist...;-] Cheers, Russ

Your work is beautiful. I came across it while researching a painted vase found in my Grandmother's storage...Victorian-looking with a Lily ID on the bottom and looks like it says, Henrik Painted. Interesting as my grandson"s name is Henrik. can you help me identify it ? It sits on a small pedestal, then rises to a rounded shape, small neck like for a bud vase. Has tiny handles. background is soft green with pink roses, cobalt blue and gold trim.

wow cool. In the morning. you can spray it with aerated compost tea. and spray with seaweed foliar feed. as long as the leaves stay dry. It looks really healthy. And you can mix up a batch of fermented alfalfa compost tea to get gangbusters blooms. Hope we can see more pictures.

Hiya Jackie-a gorgeous vase of roses for sure.
There is nothing like growing your own and filling the house with rosey colours and perfumes.
Blackspot is an ongoing problem but like most other rose pests/diseases it goes in cycles so it will eventually go away for a while.Like you say-it doesn't stop those beautiful blooms from forming and enchanting us-and that is the main joy.
