YES, but with one exception. Any genetically modified plant containing a patented gene may not be used without the permission of the patent owner. Remember the "blue rose", Applause? The GMO blue rose from Suntory's Cal Gene Pacific? It contains a gene they inserted into it and patented as "My Little Blue Gene". It also contains a marker which can be tested for in other rose samples. If you obtain a florist blossom of Applause and you use it to create another rose without buying the rights to use it from Suntory, they can determine whether your creation contains their patented gene. If it does, they have the necessary evidence to sue you for patent infringement. Would it be worth their time to do it? Want to take the chance and find out? That is the one exception to the "yes" answer.

If you don't like red, Gabriel is quite a striking red from a distance, deep pink close up, lilac edges... turns pink in heat... very beautiful rose...old rose scent.. Eustacia is Evelyn Mark II, no wonder they don't do Evelyn here no more, no royalties... I'm convinced similar Tamora line of breeding... Eustacia has the better foliage.. ... I wonder if Evelyn will get the boot in U>S. if Eustacia takes off.. ...best of luck with these two... You might be interested to know, Austins have developed a new breeding line of striped roses, bit like the painter's series, or Ferdinand Picard type... they are very pleased with what they have and hope one comes to market in a few years.... they also have some for florist roses... ...bit late to the party on that one, if you ask me....

I have no inside information. However, when I have talked to Matt he has asked what I'm looking for so he can have it in mind when he makes the selections for the following year.
