What plant gives you the biggest pain?

Hi all Crazy weather this year, esp along the Northern NSW/SE Queelnsland coast where many of us live - Jack, Kerry, Ross and some I haven't yet met I don't think. Very few plants rotted, and no Alcantareas died despite the cms of mud impregnated into the bottom of the pots. Unfortunately I lost plants of some N carcharodons, some Hohenbergias esp castellanosii clumps and a few large Vr fosteriana forms. Even the T tectorums among the rocks in full sun (rain at the time!) are fine. It rained for months and I've recorded over 2.5 metres for the year so far. Now it's getting dry with no rain for 42 days and temps starting to get well over 25C with over 30 forecast in the next few days - very warm for August but the nights are mostly cool/cold still so not much grows. We don't usually get the freezes like in the States, though a couple of yrs ago was another crazy year, not with rain but severe frost as Kerry sure knows. Lisa, the Navias like arida and ignesicola can't take the months of cold nights I get, mostly well below 10C. They are low altitude species but the ones from the tops of the tepuis are even trickier I gather but should take the cold. Cheers, Pedro

Well, if you only buy one plant, Bambi, make it carcharodon 'Tiger'. This is my absolute favorite Neo. at the moment! I first saw it at the 2000 convention when it was going for $100, and since I had only allotted myself a $300 budget I couldn't bring myself to blow a third of it on one plant. It haunted my dreams for about a year, though, and finally I decided I had to have it, whatever the price! I was ordering from Michael anyway, so I asked him to find me one. By that time I was able to get it for $40, and I see now he's selling them for $25. It is a very prolific pupper, unlike carcharodon 'Rubra', so it has become widespread and affordable now. It is a big, very hard-leafed, spiny monster that makes me happy every time I look at it! The one on the right in the pic is in an 8" pot, so that gives you some idea of its size. Here is a link that might be useful: Michael's Bromeliads

A dwarfed Dyckia remotiflora was born !!!

How about.... Dyckia 'Hobbit', because it mean a dwarf with curly hair in Tolkien's 'The Lord of the rings' as my plant look alike. I think, because of this species, Dyckia remotiflora, is a rather prolific plant, so there could be more chance of a sport or mutated clone occurring. I have another dwarf, Dyckia chorisstaminea 'small clone' from Tropiflora, which I think this would be occurred in the same situation, or perhaps from seed mutation. Here, I just found the pic before being separated the whole clump. There is a plant that leave from the rot clump, which I swapped with a bunch of xeric broms from my German friend. These are Dyckia choristaminea, normal form on the left and 'small form' or dwarf clone on the right.

Kristi I will make room thanks! What else do you want? Sillybugs I do have the crinium and will bring you one as well as a couple crown of thorns cuttings. I will be bringing a few different hedychiums or butterfly gingers. Ladygreensleves I would like to trade for the amazon I have one but have a great spot for another. Don't need the tall porterweed but if you have the native small one I will take some.

Awww! They's soooo cute! What Clever little mum she is! What colour is Daddy, and did he accept the story about the blue one being a genetic throw back? LOL

Mum looks pleased with herself. Very cute. A bit spoilt though :) It is amazing how much different breeds look similar as pups. My golden retrievers look just like your cream one but a bit different in size I suppose.

LOL sparaxis!!!! Too naughty. Dad is a Danish Blue poodle. I think we exchanged Mary for him.
Yes GH was thinking how like the labradors we used to have, they all have those round little heads.
Little Zippy is doing a great job, she has wanted puppies for ages, she has been making nests under my bed for about 2 years now. Stealing washing from the line and building big nets under my bed. She now seems fulfilled.

Oh, am I envious. We too used to breed dogs, Australian Silkies but never wanted to part with them when the time came and got too upset. So we had our Ozzie 'done' so she wouldn't have babies, but feel like a murderer not letting her have any. I love your babies, what a clever little girl she is.
