Nacogdoches, renamed Grandma's Yellow Rose. It stays a dark yellow, has good folliage and has become, along with Julia Child, one of my favorite yellows. It can be ordered from Chamblees.

Thank you for Writing MayBee. The new roses I got replaced by MR were with avec motte or was it sans? They had a peat ball with mesh net around the roots - If we can actually call it roots. This time they came in 4 days and like I said I removed the peat balls and saw that they have almost no roots - at least they were not completely rotten like the other roses I got 2 years ago. I potted them in very large pots - 5 roses in each - and they have all survived - growing nice canes and they have even flowered! Later this fall I will plant them in the ground, because I know they will make it - now that they have grown a better root system. I think that these bare root roses with almost no roots (they have been cut off) are do not have a chance to make it if fall planted up here north, like we almost always do. Perhaps spring planting will be better - something to think about for others who buy roses from MR. I simply love many of the Meilland roses! Like Tantau Roses they are very healthy and many of them are very fragrant and great for cutting. So nothing wrong with Meilland roses - only the quality of plants I got was unacceptable. Thank you for giving me the name of this other mailorder company MayBee. I still want some Meilland roses in the fall - and I have friends who speak french well - they work at the French Embassy In Copenhagen. I never learned French - but speak and write German. I have however decided to learn some French - so I can at least carry a little conversation in French when I come to France. Also thanks for visisting my blog - hope you enjoy the summer!

I grew Yves Piaget on its own roots and found it to be lacking vigor. I would try it grafted next time. I grow Charles De Gaulle- I find it to be less than vigorous on its own roots. Nice fragrance though and pretty flowers. Peter Mayle- Peter grows tall and narrow, nasty thorns, flowers usually come singly, intense complex fragrance, lasts uncommonly long in vase. Nice long stems. Mine does well in part shade, but the repeat is kind of slow, it would probably be better with more hours of sun. Rouge Royale- Wish I had a better picture. When fully open the flowers are large, flat and quartered. Lots and lots of petals. Intense fragrance, lasts very long in vase. Every year I make a pact with myself to cut every bloom off this rose and let them open in a vase because so many of them spoil instantly when left on the bush. I never do it though and end up regretting it. The color is often more Raspberry than this picture shows. Its worth growing if you love fragrance and cut flowers. Frederick Mistral Freddy flowers later than any of my other roses. but once he starts, he keeps putting out. Strongly fragrant, with large flowers and a large bush, struggles with thrips. Needs extra room. I've lost several over the years to winter and RRD, and I don't currently grow him. Papa Meilland Ooh la laaa- Papa Meilland has intense fragrance, puts out a generous amount of big deep red flowers, that hold their fragrance and blue as they age. The stems are brittle and the bush is awkward and not symetrical. I have mine planted in close groups and they look good as a mass, but they didn't look good as individuals. Comptess De Provence- Sorry no pic, but this is a pink. A most unusual sharp fragrance, that is very hard to describe. Very thorny and nicely rounded symetrical bush, good repeat, great for cutting. Bolero- Sorry no pic. This is a workhorse, more of a Floribunda than HT. Nicely fragrant, loose, many petalled creamy white. Low growing, rounded habit.
