Hoov, Try Heirloom Roses. They guarantee virus free stock and Sharifa is among their English Rose collection. The color in the image that I posted earlier from Hortiplex isn't typical of Sharifa in full blazing sun during the summer. She is only this pink during the coolness of spring and autumn, although the color can be improved a little if given shade during the hottest part of the day. In all honesty I'm not picky about the color. I like the fade out to a pink tinged white ala Souvenir de la Malmaison, which reminds me of the finest pink pearls. But what I like most about Sharifa (besides the AMAZING fragrance and lovely flowers) is the growth habit: upright yet slightly bushy, similar to a Portland. In my zone 6b garden Sharifa is a nice medium sized bush. As I mentioned in the first post, she is no Jolly Green Giant and fits nicely into my small garden. David Austin classifies SHARIFA ASMA as one of his "Old Rose Hybrids". I concur because she reminds me a lot of Jacques Cartier/Marchesa Boccella, only with better fragrance and none of that notorious Portland crud (although she will get black spot in my region without spraying). Do you wet the leaves with the fertilizer? It looks like fertilizer burn, even if you don't wet the leaves it can build up in the soil if the plant is potted, especially if it does not have good drainage. I would stop fertilizing and water it thoroughly in order to dilute the fertilizer that may already be in there.

Sultry is your LoS on its own roots, or on Dr.H or Fortuniana? I ordered one on its own roots this year from DA and they sent me a grafted one by accident (they are sending me a replacement one this week). I'm not sure if I'll like it enough to order it on Fortuniana yet, knowing it will take up a lot of room. I grew it once before and it didn't bloom much and the blooms were very small for me. But I only had it for about six months. I moved it into the ground then it started getting really large (still no blooms) and I realized it wasn't a good spot for such a large rose so I moved it again and it didn't survive the second move (poor thing, was all my fault!). Anyways, something tells me she'll do better in partial shade and maybe on her own roots so she doest get so large. I dunno. We'll see. If she does well for me I may get her on Fortuniana. I have two Pat Austins though, on Fort and they do really well and they are a similar color.

They’re absolutely beautiful, Krista! As Marlorena said, they DO look good enough to eat. I don’t see pictures of ‘The Mayflower’ very often, so it’s great to see your marvelous pictures. I wish I had more roses with a button eye. It’s one of my favorite looks, especially in pink. I’ve heard many say Sharifa Asma has one of, if not the best scents of all the DA’s. I’ll have to admire yours, because neither seems to be a rose that loves it hot and dry. Young Lycidas, on the other hand might like it here. I’ve had my eye on YL for ages, but I’m out of space.
