I have Sabal minor, S. louisiana, and Rhapidophyllum hystrix in containers. I can dig up a piece of double flowered bloodroot. I'm interested in Crane fly orchid and rattlesnake plantain orchid. I can email a pic of the 3 palms if you're interested.

I believe that your ID is correct and it is Habenaria quinqueseta (longhorn bog orchid). Another very similar species, Habenaria macroceratitis (big-horn bog orchid), is now being recognized. It normally has longer spurs (>10cm) and the distal spacing is also larger. It is usually found in a more tropical location. Since both species are variable, it would likely be difficult to distinguish between them. Link has distribution map and photos of Habenaria quinqueseta. Does Carl's book have photos of the native Orchids? Your plant may not be a local native species, Since all Orchid seed are dust-like, it could have arrived as a hitch-hiker with another plant and found the ideal conditions to germinate.
