Great pics. Here in my new home I have one pink lady slipper and half a dozen single leaf native orchids called adders mouth. Not very showy but unusual. It was years before I knew what they were but I also have the dwarf native pawpaw.

Does Carl's book have photos of the native Orchids? Your plant may not be a local native species, Since all Orchid seed are dust-like, it could have arrived as a hitch-hiker with another plant and found the ideal conditions to germinate.
