I will take one more newbie for this offer. So that makes it a total of five newbies. PLEASE, PLEASE, post here AND send an email. I don't always check here first! Perry (heirloomer08)

I'd love some if they are still available, either for postage or I have some leftover commercial seed--swiss chard, kohlrabi(2007), leeks. Maybe other seed as well. By next year I expect to have learned how to harvest my own seed. PLMK if interested. Thanks. Kathy

newbie_in_nj, Those are the flowers of Sedum album. You may not want this one unless you don't mind it taking over. It would be a perfect one to take over a slope but not garden friendly. I've been ripping it out for years, but the smallest leaf to hit the soil (and many do fall while being ripped out) will start a whole new bunch of plants :O The snaps probably had 'Black Prince' as a parent, but couldn't tell you who the other parent might have been...the flower color is different on mine. I collected the seed from the campus I was a student on. These particular snaps seem to be the most hardy for me, but have had others winter over as well... just not as long :) I started some Snap 'Red and White' this year (not yet blooming) and these were one of the original parents of 'Black Prince'...so now I guess we're having a family reunion LOL!! Big Boy are pretty popular in the South and by all reports they do well. I've not tasted one so I can't compare them to some others, but I surely do agree with Bagsmom! Black tomatoes are DELISH and taste like nothing else! I grew black cherry last year, they were late producers for me here (and they are early producers at a friends farm in Chattanooga, so go figure!!) but have that rich, complex "big" tomato taste. I love Brandywine and go the extra mile to keep the plants healthy for that great taste. I've grown many others, but also love Green Zebra, sungold and Juliette's for their production. I roasted and froze about 40 2 cup bags of just Juliette's and Sungolds, two plants of each this year - incredible production and amazing taste and consistency from small tomatoes. I'm still searching for the best bi-colored tomato to grow here. The Mr. Stripey's I've grown aren't productive and can be "hollow" in the middle, and Dad's Sunrise was great last year but late ripening and not overly productive. Good if you have space for a lot of tomatoes. Nice flavor. I've also grown Floradade (spelled several different ways in seed catalogs) and Heatwave which are said to do well along the Florida/Georgia border. They did fine here, producing small, round tomatoes but they lacked fine, fresh garden tomato taste to me. GGG
