What did in the twin blade mower, is it has three pairs of bearings, that all need oiling. Two at the top and bottom of the motor, and two for each of the blades. A previous comment alluded to owners neglecting to maintain them, and there are several comments about twin blade mowers making horrible noises as they died. Oiling six bearings was just too much to expect of the average consumer. This also made the twin blade mower more expensive to build, and it lost market share to the simpler (but clumsier) single-blade design. Twin blade mowers were a delight to use, as they were small, light, quiet, and best of all, the handle flipped, so the front became the back. Unlike single blade mowers, you never had to turn a twin-blade mower around. Like a ferry boat, you just flipped the handle and went back the way you came, zig-zagging your way across the lawn. That way you never ran the risk of running over your cord, because you constantly just moved away from the outlet, trailing the cord to the side. My favourite was a deck with a single-side discharge chute, because I pretty much walked beside the mower, not behind it, and pointed the chute away from me so I didn't get clippings on my feet. The world is a genuinely less-good place now that people think a mower is pretty good, because they've never experience the twin-blade design. It was just that much superior to the single-blade concept.

Both are fine engines with no complaints here that I recall at all. I wouldn't roll over for the difference. The Kohler Courages seem prone to fewer problems than the more complex late gen Kohler Command engines. I have trouble thinking of any complaints on any Courage here, 1 or 2 cyl engines, tho the Vtwins first appeared in '06 I think the Vtwin Courage unlike the single cyl vers has a conventional bottom crankcase. On the 1 cyl, the crankcase is at the TOP of the engine. Sounds dumb, but seems to work well. The Briggs is basically the same one Deere uses on the LA series. Enough said.

Twin XL's will be the same length as a king. If you have a king size bed you can lay the comforter lengthwise on the king & see if you need extra length; you do have to buy twin XL sheet for twin xl mattresses. We are in a resort area with golfers & most rental agents require XL twins for golfers because they need the length. Rental agencies usually require bedspreads rather than comforters with bed skirts & shams as shams get lost & bed skirts get torn; bedspreads are easier as far a laundry purposes also.

Following. I've been trying to find something similar. You don't have to use the 3" mattresses from IKEA for the Hemnes...you could buy a 6" (or higher) mattress to use for the couch, and then when you pull it out use a blow up mattress the same height for the other side. I was also considering getting a king topper of some sort to make it more like a king bed for guests. I was also trying to find two twin futons, which I thought might do the trick. I considered a sofa bed but have the same dilemma - I don't think a sofa would fit through our bedroom doors. The Article one doesn't look great to me. I feel like it would be good for a few months and then start sagging. But if it's not used often it probably would be fine. We have guests rarely, but it's usually my elderly father and his even more elderly girlfriend. I have a queen mattress on the floor right now but want the room to be more of a sitting/extra TV room when not a guest room.
