The Administrator of this site: If you can read this, take a look at the messages in this "Roses in Aus" page, you've allowed someone to plaster their stupid advertisment all over the messages so they cannot be read - 'Pregnancy and Parenting, etc, etc.'! Do you expect contributers to persist when you allow this? The messages simply cannot be read!!! It's ridiculous!

Hear hear Funnel Web. This used to be such a great site but now people are deserting it by the truckload. They won't have any contributors at all if they carry on like this.

Thanks triciac, I was beginning to think I imagined it. I'm not game to 'click' on the doubly underlined green highlighted 'Parenting' word in my message. Why do they (the administrators) allow all this interfering advertising? I guess they'll accept anyone willing to pay what-ever fee even it is affronting and an insult to human intelligence no matter how offensive or in-your-face it might be. Maybe it's time for rose folks to start up their own site. I've no idea how to though.

It used to be that when you clicked on "Edit" of "My Page" there was a box at the very bottom that said 'Home Page' and you could put a link to your site such as a blog or home page. A friend had made a home page for me with a few pictures etc. which is linked above so when "My Page" was clicked you had the option to click on the 'Home Page' or blog of that person, but now there is no such option on my "My Page". You can still put it on the "Optional Link URL" box, but as you say that takes a little time. Just wondering if the 'Home Page' option on "My Page" had disappeared for everyone. Click the 'Edit' button on your "My Page" to see.

A little more info of your computer would go a long way. How much memory does your system have. What browser and version are you using? What sort of internet connection are you using (Cable, DSL, Dialup)?

Hello Joe ... I am one of those guilty folk who have not ... until a few minutes ago ... thanked you for your response to my query on the Bay Tree. I also posted this query in Trees so must go look to see if anyone has since responded there. To be honest, I gave up looking for a response to my query after 5-6 weeks, probably about the time you responded. I have not visited GardenWeb since as I am really only interested in the Med section and the inactivity is painful in my opinion. As far as the adverts, this seems to be the 'in' thing on many sites. I have been a member for 3 1/2 years on a VERY active UK gardening forum where people post day and night (and was a Mod but resigned for my own reasons) and they have recently taken to Google ads which is annoying many people ... not only that my also are now suggesting donations in order to get rid of these ads !!!!!!! I am also a Mod on an expat forum here and admittedly I only look once a day as there may be no postings for a couple of weeks at a time, if not longer !!! I find it hard to get around this forum (possibly because I really don't know it). It doesn't seem that once someone responds that that post goes back to the top of the list and you have to scroll down looking for your query (or response to a query). Not that you have to scroll far due to the infrequent activity here. I shall now go and look at the Portuguese query here and see if I can be of assistance. Victoria

You are right, This used to be a wonderful site and we had many experts to give us good advice from all over Australia. There was always someone from whom we could take notes. Also in the old days, if the Administrator read reports like yours here(which they did) they would have cut us off and not allowed us to make remarks, so things have changed and it is all about advertising now. As it is a free site on which we can post, even if it isn't a good report, at least we can talk.

Being a little reluctant to 'click' on ad-hoc sites, is this site, 'onitsuka, etc.', a problem? Is it anymore than blatant advertising? Is it a security risk?
