Looking for special rose

MY family and I are seeking a rose that has the name "Anthony" or "Ralph" in it to plant in our gardens as a rememberance to my brother who passed away recently. Does anyone know of one that would be available to me in Adelaide ??

Any help would be appreciated

I'd look at the Ross Roses catalogue. My guess would be that their range would be about the biggest in Adelaide. I know there is a David Austin called Noble Anthony but how available it is I couldn't say.

There are some great rose nurseries in Adelaide. Wagner's and Ross to the south and St.Kilda to the north, also the Flower Garden at Nairne. You can ring any of them - they are always willing to help. TFG and Ross have a great website - esp www.rossroses.com.au there is a terrific gallery with a search engine that will help you.
Sorry about your brother. I lost a sister and it leaves a strange hollow feeling to lose a sibling.

I get about 10 degrees cooler in the summer than Phoenix. Average about 100--105 for a few months. I have had Brother Cadfael since it was introduced about 15--16 years ago? Easy to grow on its own root. I just shove a stem into the ground and it grows! I have them against a south facing white fence in the back of my yard. I love the Brother! Scent is to die for and the blooms are gorgeous! However, it is not as prolific with blooms as I would like when it gets super hot. It is very tall and very straight. I probably had some stems in the 8--10 foot range last summer and that is with pruning hard during the winter (about 2--3 feet tall when done). This rose, is my favorite rose, however. I just love mine!

Nicole, I am sorry for the loss of your father and hope that coming years your roses will bring sweet memories of your dad as your garden grows. If I were going to send roses along to my dad's cremation, I would cut them that morning and put them into a plastic clear holder that bouquets of cut flowers come in that are sold at florist shops or grocery stores. Just ask for one and they will probably sell you or more likely give you one. Cut the stems long and don't worry about hurting the bush by cutting the blooms. Roses respond well to pruning or cutting back. Best wishes, Gean

Hi vapor ! Summer sun did pretty well . I'll admit I planted it in the front yard , near a hedge that grows 8 ft tall ( laurel ?) so it gets a little shade after 2. It was thorny , kinda wonky growth but I'll blame the shrub behind it . It only got fertilizer when planted . It's in an area I kinda hate , because of the hedge. So it really got no love from me ! I'm keeping it , it seemed great on disease resistance, I think it's little fragrant and the blooms are very bright especially with the hedge background. Behind it o have a purple clematis so I like the boldness together. It is very very bright and would not blend well with Austins and the like . I remember it only blooming on the ends of the canes and mostly always having some blooms when I checked on it . I promise to love it next year and share photos . Sadly this is the only one I can find !!

Hi,

I am also looking for a special rose. My wife and I have a newborn daughter whom we named Vienna Rose. I am trying to find a variety of rose with Vienna in it's name. I checked the searchable gallery at www.rossroses.com.au as suggested by Deb but there was not a variety with Vienna in the name.

Anyone know of one? Or any other suggestions?
