What's flowering in my garden

Bouganvillea Smarty Pants, good smaller bougie, more upright and doesn't climb or sprawl.

Bower of Beauty, covered in flower at the moment

Daylily though can't remember it's name

Red Calliandra, can't remember the rest of its name but it is the groundcover one, only grows .5m high but about 2m wide with very fine ferny leaves.

Quite a different type of flower to what we can grow. Love the look of that low growing bouganvilliea

Wonderful GH now that you have put a bigger pic of smarty pants on I see it is one my neighbour has.
I took a cutting of it late last year and it grew ok, its in the ground now but has yet to flower
Those Calliandra have such pretty flowers, does that ground cover one have lots of seedlings.
My bower of beauty has no buds or flowers as yet its a dead loss as no flowers last year either.
A beautiful day lily that pink one.. Cheers..MM.

Not to further confuse, but Stylophorum is rather rare in that part of the Chicago region. Chelidonium majus looks very much a smaller version of Stylophorum diphyllum. While I can't tell which it is by the photo, you can separate them easily once they fruit shortly after flowering. Chelidonium majus has a long, smooth fruit with no style while Stylophorum diphyllum has a shorter, bristly fruit with a long style.

When I grew it the first time I started inside under grow lights. I planted that one in the garden and it always reseeded. Then we moved and I wanted another one. Since they reseed so well, I winter sowed it. I imagine you could actually plant the seeds directly to. I prefer to w/s because I can then control the environment and keep mice/rabbits or other pests away from the seedling. If you want some seeds, I will be putting up a trade list soon and I have some. Hi, Jay, Nice to 'meet' you! You might get more responses to your questions if you post in the 'Vegetables' forum - it's a little busier over there :) You can find the (enormous) list of other forums by clicking on Forums in the dark green menu bar at the top of the page. I've also linked the veggie forum for you below. I'm also a beginner- just a few years now - but the issue with your peas is likely the season. Peas are supposed to be planted in the early spring and harvested and done before hot weather hits. I just cut all of mine down before the heat wave we just had so they wouldn't compete with the beans I'd planted in the same spot. (This isn't my ideal succession planting, but I'm still working on garden renovations so I didn't have all my beds available.) I'm sure your peas will give it a go, but the summer weather isn't their cup of tea :) I'll be trying to plant some more peas for a fall crop, though I've heard this can be tricky. Here's a nice pdf I found with planting dates for Central Maryland - it seems like you can try planting again in late July/early August. I really like that Bougainvillea, what a great looking plant. I really like the leaves on the last one as well, all very nice though.

MM, this calliandra doesn't seem to seed like the others, I've only managed to gather a couple off seed pods of the plant and tried to strike them but haven't had any luck. It is planted in a really tough area and it doesn't like the cold. When it's dry the leaves close up.

The B of B is planted on a bank and allowed to hang down. The roots are in the shade and as I have to walk past it to get to the vegie garden it does get a bit of extra water sometimes. My other ones don't look anywhere near as good as that one.
