Almost here...

I've been waiting for a couple of years for this to flower...those buds are about the size of a 20 cent piece.

The flowers are going to enormous.

Ok Annie I am going to take a stab at this,
Is it a Hoya, having only grown one of them about 20 years ago .
If not, could you please tell me what it is, very impressive anyway.
Looking forward to seeing the flowers opened...Cheers..MM.

"If I keep ignoring the cold, one of these times it really will stay away, right?" Ah, Purple, I really love the positive magical thinking! One of my best things! And, ah, memories of 'panic nights' across the years.... Well, every year, but anyways.... Didn't get much done this evening, but I did dig out the old sheets and dump them in the garage. Those, some old pieces of rerod, and some rocks pulled out of garden edges will do for the time[s] when I suddenly hear about the 'frost warning' at the least-convenient late-night time. We didn't get much veggie yield this year. Way too wet in May/June, way too wet-and-hot in June/July, way too cold in August. But it makes me determined to let things go as long as they can, and salvage every smidge. Hence the sheet-stash. The only good thing about the coming cold is that the places where I haven't gotten to the weeds [cuss] will be bare when the snow melts in the spring. They will look much better! Less desperate! I strongly prefer 'relaxed and laid back', but less desperate will do in a pinch.... (grins)

I just love the color combination. Verbena bonarenisis front & center, really should have planted toward the back so I cut some back & moved to the other side. A white daisy I got at spring fling 2016, a gaillardia, lots of coneflowers (original came from spring fling too), rose campion blooming for the first time, and my cutleaf coneflower "bush" for lack of a better term is about 5ft tall. In the midst of that jungle are some daylilies (another fling thing or grown from seeds), cosmos, marigolds and basils. Volunteer lettuce that came up from last year's seed. I think it's setting blooms? The stem has grown thick and tall, then these tiny leaves are sprouting from the top in almost a petal look. One of my coneflower blooms. I know the centers start out green & turn dark brown, but this one seems to have stalled out halfway. I've always been fascinated by aberrations.

It's Hoya macgillivrayi or something similar yes the flowers are huge, mine hasn't re-flowered in about 5 years but they are a treat. Well done, Annie and keep us updated.
I have a tiny tiny little white flowered hoya out now that has the sweetest but strong perfume, such a pity they all lost their labels over the years.

Looks like Hoya Macgillivrayi. wonderful plant.

Alison, your litle white one with the perfume could be Hoya lacunosa, one of my favourites.

I knew it was Hoya Macgill...something.
I've been watching it for about a week.
I just hope these storms we've been getting won't hurt it.

Alison, H. lacunosa is a very fragrant miniature about 5mm across the somewhat round shaped flower. H. Serpens is another very fragrant miniature with a star shaped flower about 13mm across.
