Acacia ID?

This is a 2 year old, first year of flowering, I have a list of about 10 possibilities - but if anyone recognizes it, please let me know

Your right - there are many possibilities! Can't get a decent look at the phylodes, but by the look of it (after 2 years), you are looking at a fairly large shrub/tree. Have you tried looking at the ASGAP or nqational botannic gardnes sites? Also any of the native gardening books with photos.

I'm pretty sure I have discovered which it is - Acacia saligna Â W. A. Golden Wattle (my current favourite Acacia!)
apparently it gets 4 x 4m

Just an aside, after doing some reading. Recently, floral, in a thread about Eden Project, mentioned the paucity of native British flora. It would appear that H. rhamnoides was one of the early pioneer plants that started the recolonisation of Britain, after it was scoured clean during the last Ice Age.
