If I puff any more...?

It is raining very gently here tonight and the pond frogs are having a party. A little rain-drop on the lens I guess, this tiny little frog (no bigger than my thumb-nail) is almost outsized by his throat.

I had bad dreams last night about this Garlic Cheese fiasco. I was going to every store I could find looking for Kraft garlic cheese roll because I HAD to have cheese grits for dinner. Lord luv a duck, what a night. Meldy, I've made the grits with garlic powder when I was visiting yankee cousins and they requested them, it just wasn't the same. That old cheese roll (previously put out by Kraft) was just the right thing when you added cheddar to it. Suzy, thank you for taking the time to send me the link to the Amish store. I checked out the site and later on today when I get a chance, I want to order some other things also and of course get the cheese. If it works out for my grits, Kraft will be forever in your debt. I fired a warning arrow across their bow this morning. A BOYCOTT by the genteel southern ladies casserole brigade if they don't fire up that garlic cheese vat pronto.:0)

I've always done them as a savory appetizer, although I admit to liking them with a sweet cream filling if cold. We typically make them with crab in season. Puffs cooked til very dry, completely cooled, sliced part of the way through but not entirely (jack in the box style), then filled and 'lid down'. And I don't eat many desserts, but wouldn't turn down an occasional ÃÂ©clair with a custard filling and chocolate on top. Years ago I made puff swans Easter. Once. I don't know if I'd do it again but I impressed the heck out of little nieces and nephews that year ;) Recipe was in one of my older holiday idea books but same thing.... This is a very tough situation to be in. It is very disturbing to hear of the sexual abuse and the dead puppy. If I were you I'd be very concerned this boy doesnt have alot of contact with your young daughter. Unfortunately many abused victims do in turn become "abusers". Seeing as though you have tried counseling and everything and nothing is getting better,I can understand how you feel about wanting him in foster care. Can I ask...did it come out in counseling that his mom sexually abused him? If so,then have charges been pressed against her? It sounds as though she has had alot of men around too,and any of them could have abused the boy also. Of course your husband may blame himself.He feels he should have protected the boy from this ever happening. Still,my number one priority at this point would be making sure this does not happen to your daughter. You never said how old the boy is? I also do not see how DFS can tell you that you cant spank your kid. As far as I know spanking is not illegal. I'm so sorry that being a stepmom has turned out this way for you. I think for our own biological kids to do things like this is bad enough,but when step kids do it we feel more powerless in the situation. Is there a grand parent,or a aunt or uncle the boy could stay with? One that maybe does not have children who wouldnt mind being a sort of MENTOR? Hopefully you will get some more great advice from others in the forum. I can mainly only offer my sympathy...

Very cute indeed. We had one trying to climb up the glass sliding door last night, by the sounds of them I think we must have hundreds on our block, just as well they are not the really loud ones.

Yes I hear lots on my block too,It is raining at present and there is a choir out there.
I hear one when I let the bath water out,
It is hiding in the big black hose connected to the outlet and protests when the water gushes out.
Marion they are so small and you are right about the thumb nail size.
Your little frog is Litoria fallax ( Eastern Dwarf tree frog )Thats a big puff its doing.
Mateing song so doubt. Cute all the same, I love frogs..Cheers..MM.

He is so cute, I love frogs we don't seem to have many here at the moment maybe one of the many drawbacks to the drought, now we are having a lot more rain I hope they come back as I never use chemicals & there is lots of cover in my garden

I love frogs but you are welcome to some of ours. Three in the bath drainhole makes it very hard for water to go down and if they aren't in the drain they sit one in each corner of the bathroom all day and leave their little droppings down the wall and the floor.

Also we have a drain about a metre from the bedroom window and in exceptionally wet weather (what's that lately) the water drains very slowly so the frogs have their orgies out there. On a hot summers night when you want the window open you can't sleep because of the noise.

I'd never try to get rid of them though.
