I finally remembered!! The plant is called bartlettina sordida (no common name). If you've never seen this plant, google it. This is such a beautiful plant.

Purpleinopp, The Impatiens marianae is the little striped one in the 4 inch pot. Hopefully I can keep it alive--it sounds like it likes tons of moisture (I think maybe Derick said he sets it in water?), shade, no frost, no heat... I'll propagate it as soon as I reasonably can if it does well. There's an Ebay seller who has sold this plant before--he has great pictures and I give a link at the bottom. The one in the bottom left is Begonia toledana (I think the tag said toledoana, but I think that must be correct). It is fuzzy. The Tetrastigma is also fuzzy. The Begonia "B. kellermanii hybrid" I posted on earlier is also fuzzy, and the guy at the sale (whose name I should know...) I believe said one of the differences between B. kellermanii and B. peltata is that the fuzz rubs off the former when touched. I've rooted a piece of that plant and will probably also propagate the B. toledana soon. Going way off topic, I actually grow another plant, not a Begonia, that is purplish and looks fuzzy, but doesn't feel fuzzy. I think it has very short hairs maybe. It's a Bartlettina, that Annie's sells with the obsolete (and confusing) name of Eupatorium sordidum (the old name for Bartlettina sordida). I have a ton of those seeds, which may or may not be easy to grow (tried once, and got one seedling). I'm not sure if it grows in hot areas. Here's a plant (my mom's) in quite a bit of sun. Again, not a Begonia: Here is a link that might be useful: Impatiens marianae description/photos from Ebay seller Strange Wonderful Things

We had colder weather here today and yesterday than we did on Monday. Monday morning's low was 49, but yesterday and today it got down to 45 degrees, and in certain spots in my yard it is 3 or 4 degrees colder, and so I do not put anything sensitive there. I keep orchids outside all winter, and they are doing okay, but they are in the warmest part of the back yard and are semi-protected. I have basil and tomato plants in pots next to the house, and they are doing well. I seem to get more tomatoes in the winter than I do in the summer. None of my Kalanchoes have ever gotten damaged, and I have some of the in the coldest parts of the yard. The heliconias never get damaged either.

"Real" trees aren't necessary...shrubs can work and so can bonsais. I even attached an orchid to the trunk of my Echeveria. Oh no...you've definitely tempted me to order those Agapetes species from Bovees. Or...I guess I could just wait for yours to get bigger so that we might trade cuttings. Regarding the Dry Garden Nursery...the Agapetes you described sounds exactly like the one I purchased from them last week. So it's not there anymore...unless they already replaced it. I'm not familiar with Philesias...but I looked them up and they do look pretty neat. My friend is from Chile...perhaps I'll ask her about bringing back some seeds.
