I recently tried dried cherries produced by a commercial farm near Glenrowan and they were yummy. Do you have access to a dehydrator? If so it may be worth a try too!

APPLES PEACHES (3 TYPES)NECTARINES,PLUMCOT, LOQUATS,2 DIFFERNT TYPES OF PLUMS, GOOSEBERRY'S, CURRANTS, AND ORANGES LEMONS AND ALMONDS, SO ENOUGH TO KEEP ME OUT OF MISCHIEF AND ALSO HEAPS OF RHUBARB ,PASSIONFRUIT TOO, AND THEN THERE IS THE VEGE GARDEN AND THE FLOWER GARDEN, OH YES AND THE HOUSEWORK(SOMETIMES)

A dehydrator is definitely great in that case. I use it very often and don't have an orchard like yours.

I make Clafoutis often - looks harder than it is. Haven't tried dehydrading them - just picked up a few kg black ones and will give that a try. Thanks for the tip - would you de-pit first? I hate that job..........

thanks everyone what would I do without you all,yep spatz we think its our little piece of heaven though we only have 5 acres and the above mentioned trees are in the acre around the house and garden , and the garden like I said just keeps getting bigger,have now got 160 roses in two large beds and my iris have just arrived from sparaxis, so guess who will be busy this weekend,

Uh, you do have grandkids, don't you? Little hands for fiddly jobs like this....

Thanks Spatz - I've got a couple of de-pippers tried it on the girlies last year - after they had done 6 they decided it was a Grandma job. Never mind, they do well at bread making and broad bean podding.

Lorraine, I've now retired from active teaching and lecturing so I can concentrate more on the gardening side of cosmic activity. I'm developing a running calendar for the website with daily advice - an upgrade with more info than the 'try out' that I have there now.

After I've tried out the new cultivator ( Bob's 70th birthday present) I will be doing some work on that.
