Spatz, if you're taken with 'Denise', why not just ask your local nursery to order one. Nurseries are usually able to order small amounts from wholesalers much more readily than individuals can. It's worth a try anyway.

Mulberry sauce is wonderful. Made some at my son's place a while back and the grandkids and I had pancakes with mulberry sauce each morning for breakfast. Yummmmmmm..........

If you cant get a "Denise" in SA, I can source you one here. I also have a blueberry called "northland" which is a good producer, but I havent seen any of those recently for sale.
I can get you cuttings when they are dormant.

Thanks, Helen. I realize it is the wrong time of the year to source these plants. Just too eager to finally get my own blueberries. Will let you know how it goes. :)

I have a friend who farms them - she has about 6 different - no idea of the names but I think one of them might be Northland. If you need cuttings I'll be getting some at the end of season. They do need fairly heavy watering and actually grow well in acid and swampy ground - just got the right spot against my back fence....

I saw Patricia today - she's cut back to two varieties over the years - Northland and Blue Brigitte. She says both are prolific and will grow from hardwood cuttings and will be happy to give me some in due course. Brigitte is a large sweet one. Northland more the primitive blueberry. She also suggested I dig up some bushes as she is tired of growing them for the birds! So will announce availability in due course.

I'll be getting quite a few - I'm not sure about the quarantine regs but will send you some as soon as they are available. My friend won't want any plants in return , she is recovering from a massive transplant but I'd love some red current cuttings if you think its OK to get them into Tas. I was going to ask before but I'm not sure of the regs. I'll check.

Should be no problem. I've sent them to Tasmania before. Helen might be able to chime in, she knows the regulations by heart, I think. :)

Cuttings are ok. The only problem is soil and I usually ask anyone who is sending me a plant to wash the soil off.

If there are some Blueberry cuttings going begging, I could possibly help out with a couple. I got excited when you said they like acid and swampy ground. Sounds like the whole of Armidale.
I'm not pushing, but if one or two were possible, eternal gratitude would follow.
