I've been "planning" to divide my old irises since June, but whoa! What a chore! Not sure my legs and back can stand it. There are Irises everywhere (that's one plant that can grow really well in Oklahoma). They have multiplied so much that they are stacked on top of each other like turtles on a log in a pond on a hot day!!! I have way too many of the two-toned red-violet ones and purple with red-violet falls. They are the most prolific reproducers I have. Man they multiply! I am going to take all the extras out and toss them out along the highway grader ditches leading in and out of town. This town is about dried up and dead. We need something to bring people here. How about an Iris Festival in May every year? The downtown streets are extra wide - built back in the cowboy days, so there is plenty of room. Irises blooming all over downtown and all along the highway coming into town? A small investment for the town in general if everyone divides up their irises and just tosses some of them out along the highway. And it wouldn't take any time at all before it could become a reality....don't you think? Anyway, that is my pipe dream. They always bloom so beautifully the following year after being divided and reset that it almost makes the horrific job & back pain bearable...well, almost. Annie

I have many plants. Once they flower, leave them. As stated in the first comment, a baby plant will start growing and eventually try to root itself into the dirt. I usually let them root and then gently remove them and their tender roots and place them in their own pot of soil. I like to place at least 5 or 6 baby plants in each container and leave them until the next Spring and then plant them into the ground.

The dutch iris are not expensive and are delightful in the spring. I found the same thing to be true of my mix. There were more blues than white or yellow. Molly

I was really impressed with the packaging, instructions and all the information on the site. I like that it started out as a small home business and that they are willing to trade too. I discovered Leonine late this season and even though I ordered a month or two ago, there were a lot that were sold out already. There are A LOT of exotic looking irises that I will try to get first dibs on next year! I have a purple, red, pink and white theme going on in my front yard so this year I stuck with purple PCIs. There are A LOT of other colors though so don't think that all they have is purple since that's all I bought. :) Here's photos of what I ordered.
