beautiful! I've always had trouble photographing those bright colours. They turn neon. No doubt it'll be some setting on the camera which needs adjusting.

Hi Cynthia, I bought Hollandia today at Costco. I think they are a dark center (navy or black). The picture of the ones I bought show a rich red but no light center like yellow or white. I have not grown this one before, but I bought the package because it had "Carnival de Rio" with it which is white with red stripes.

Darwin tulips tend to return (perennialize) better than other types and Red Apeldoorn is pretty much the classic red Darwin (although there are others). These are often available at box stores, groceries, garden centers and anywhere else selling spring bulbs now - a very common and popular variety. Also available from most online vendors. And all you need is well drained soil in a decent amount of sun.

Thanks Inga and Annie, I have a little Traveler camera(el cheapo)and it's some times difficult to re produce the original colour. It's frustrating when you have great colour
in a flower and and you can't get it on the screen but we'll keep on trying! We only have red in the little succulent and they are now flowering away nicely.
