did someone say hoyas??? Now there is a market to fill! Seems to me that Exotic Angel is the only big seller of hoyas these days, and though the selection is good, it is only the tip of the iceburg! The only drawback is - and I am speaking only for my area - most of the garden centers have been pushed out of the plant business by places like Home Depot. They can't very well charge the higher prices they want to charge anymore when the customer can drive to the Depot and get the same plant for $8.98. So if you are going to sell to these garden centers, you will have to have prices that are low enough for them to turn around and sell at a competitive price with the big box stores and still make a profit. But hey, I don't know much about business. I grow most of my hoyas from cuttings I get from other growers, but that is not to say that I wouldn't buy a full size plant if I came across one...actually, I'd be thrilled to see something other than the same old selection that EA has been putting out for years.

djoy the pillow is one that my wife made for me. She traced the outline of my .357 Mag Desert Eagle and made the pillow with some spare fabric she has from her quilting. Oh and today I took a couple of ripe pods to work for a couple of chilihead coworkers. I sure wish I had my camera phone then. Their faces were redder than the pods. The vending machine company should thank me. They were eating ice cream like it was an all you can eat buffet for the entire half hour of lunch break. The weather has been warm enough that the peppers have been going outside for the days. I have been bringing them in at night as it has been wet at night. I want to avoid too much moisture in plants that could end up inside for week or more. The stuff in the low tunnel looks pretty shocked. Though the geraniums look they will pull though. The ornamental peppers dropped their leaves, though the stems are still green so I will hope for the best on that one. Ok now back to loading up some .45-70 Govt. cowboy loads for fun tomorrow. Nothing like banging the steel spinners with those big heavy bullets. A note on topic. One of the pods on the Moruga is now blushing orange. It decided to turn color after seeing my Walker Colt laying next to it.

Sarah I'm not actually in Sydney so I hope someone there can help, but if you are interested in Tillandsias you're probably better off getting onto a good mail order grower, or attending one of the Brom Soc events. I see from the link below that there is a show on in Sydney in May. Most clubs have sales days. I've seen a variety of them from time to time at Bunnings nurseries but you are better off contacting the gardening dep'ts there - you will pay more though. I do know some brom growers in Qld though I'm not a club member but if you wanted any contacts for suppliers I might be able to get them Here is a link that might be useful: check for the May NSW show

Definitely check out North Haven Gardens while you're here. There are a couple of Lowe's stores near that area. Just check it for the clearance plants if you like that kind of thing. Also find the nearest Calloway's Nursery to check that place out also. Ruibal's Nursery (ruibals.com) has several locations around Dallas but one big one is in Downtown Dallas near the Farmer's Market. Another one is on Lemmon, might even be near you. McKinney (straight up north on I-75 from Dallas) is having a plant sale on Fri-Sun (public allowed on Sat and Sun). This is also the Third Saturday outdoor Flea Market in McKinney, in case you want to combine these two activities. The Texas Discovery Gardens near Fair Park/Downtown Dallas is also having a plant sale. Grapevine, Tx plant sale going on also, but only 1/2 day on Saturday. And there is the Fort Worth plant swap going on also, only on Saturday. Busy weekend just thinking about it!
