It sounds like you are having a good time anyway, I plan to put some in large pots as I am nearly out of room but I will probably get ruthless with other things as I love roses best,we don't seem to be getting Delbards in our Kmart but I have ordered Grimaldi & Henri Mattice (spelling) from our local nursery do you mind telling how much Kmart charges please

I can certainly identify with this!! Not necessarily roses, but any plant life. Is it an addiction? Oh well, I guess it's better than gambling or drugs lol!! I am really trying not to buy anything unless I know exactly where it will go, but OH! it's so hard.

I think they were $13.99 or $14.99. Nice plants - not a lot of roots on the pimprenelle. I have planted them all out this morning, and moved a Pierre de Ronsard to the front of the house, where I have 2 new cast iron obelisks. I planted Citroen Fraise beside it, as I think (hope) the colours will go together. I am in 2 minds as to whether to move my larger Pierre to the other obelisk or just buy another one. The big one is gorgeous but on the big arbor, where all the other roses are going UP instead of bushing like Pierre. It might do better on the obelisk, and I could then by another climber to go on the arbor, and another to go on the almond tree where the first Pierre came from.
I spent the morning digging out a path that was mulched with bark 3 years ago - it yielded 12 barrow loads of beautiful topsoil for my DA's that are coming from Treloars soon. The path has been remulched, deeply with the shredded leaves and branches from the gum tree that fell down on Christmas morning. (low flying reindeer?)
The Caitlin has been planted there, as I think it will look good with the other DA's. I can fit 6 more in, and maybe a tall weeping standard, but I think a weeping Maple look be better there.
Hopefully the capping stones will arrive this week to finish off our garden walls at the front of the house, and then I can plant out the rest of my treloars order - mostly dainty shrub roses, and ground covers. Photos if I ever get time - LOL

I couldn't resist 10 DA's at $7.30 each at our Big W - and I do not know where they are going and I have ordered all the roses I wanted and knew where they were going. I was going to plant 1 Blue Moon in my new bed and so now I have 3 and I couldn't resist and Abraham Darby as so many rave about him. And a Queen Liz for somewhere. And a Leander and an Apricot Nectar and a Long Tall Sally that I was thinking about anyway and a 2 more I have forgotten already. Oh a Gloire de Dijon.

You people are incorrigible!I am trying to be sooooooooo good this year-and failing miserably-always buying plants that sit around in pots waiting for me to find a place to plant them.

I must make a trip to Kmart here in SA never know what I might find.
I have a list of roses in my purse,laminated just as a reminder of the ones I am looking for.
It still doesn't stop the impulse buying.
I bought another Bonica (in a bag) while down at the hardware store buying sand and gravel mix when I came back to the ute my partner had thrown a bag of potting mix on top of the load.He then went inside and paid for the extra purchase so that I didn't have to walk past the rose display a second time.He figured that I would not have a spot for it so it could go in a pot for the time being.
Gee I have him well trained.!!!!!

What a sweet addiction, who needs the "funny stuff" folk take ??
A Lovely lady called Rose, a GW member, gave me a book on roses, Oh dear, there are pinks and yellows and reds and whites all flittering round in my head now.
My Henry is just waiting for the order to get the truck load of soil in.

With Big W and K mart so far away I have to content myself with Mitre 10. Only got one from them, Oklahoma. Did manage a trip to Cairns weeks ago and bought Blue Moon, Mabella, Cl Pinkie.
Sandie, that is a gorgeous scanned image once again. For once Grimaldi is having a short break but I see some more buds forming. Must like this climate, it is one of my best. Thank you again.

I bought 10 self rooted roses last year and just had to get more this year especially when DA roses were on offer as well as the ones on my wish list. Then I got more on a free voucher!! I have been saving some of my wine cask boxes in case I found a use, and I think that I can use them for the babies over summer and plant them out when they are bigger. Last year's all survived, but a couple could be better. Nexy year they can go into the garden undisturbed.
